Solutions: Singatron's Universal Audio Jacks
In order to prevent the risks from using the wrong mating plug, Singatron develops
Universal Audio Jacks to solve the issues.
The essentials of the design of the Universal Audio Jacks:
(1) Codec – New Codec can support both CTIA & OMTP plug in the same time.
* Note: Suppliers of New Codec which can support both CTIA & OMTP plug in
the same time are Texas Instrument, Realtek, and Conexant.
(2) Audio jack has to have sequence which the detect pin only starts function when all the pins are in
the right positions. When all the pins are in the right position, the detect pin will tell the device to
check the microphone and grounding pin and determine which pin is defined as the Microphone
and which pin is defined as Ground.
(3) Some designs need to add a capacitor to delay the detect pin accurately until all the pins are in the
right positions.

1ST: TIP contacts Plug

2nd: RING-A contacts Plug
When all the pins are in the right positions, the detect
pin will tell the device to check the microphone and
grounding pin and determine which pin is defined as
the Microphone and which pin is defined as Ground.
3rd: RING-B contacts Plug
4th: EARTH contacts Plug

Our design of Universal Audio jack has to have sequence which the detect pin only
starts function when all the pins are in the right positions. When all the pins are in the
right position, the detect pin will tell the device to check the microphone and
grounding pin and determine which pin is defined as the Microphone and which pin is
defined as Ground.
Singatron has the Patent right on this design.
When all the pins are in the right positions, the detect pin will send a signal to tell the
device to check.
