One of motoring's icons, the Sir Alec Issigonis designed Mini, debuted at the 1959 Motor Show to universal acclaim. This early Mini has been in the current ownership since 1982. It has been the subject of a sympathetic restoration which was completed by the vendor in 2009. We are informed that the body received two new front wings and a driver's door skin and the Mini was fully resprayed in grey with a white roof. The interior is original apart from new carpets, and the engine and running gear are original to the car, with the latter only needing servicing and detailing. The vendor believes that the recorded mileage of just under 44,000 miles could be correct, due to the lengthy period of inactivity (1982 - 2009) but unfortunately there is insufficient history to substantiate this. Offered for auction with past MOTs and sundry paperwork, this delightful Mini now restored to its former glory awaits an appreciative new owner. On receiving her first pay packet Mrs Morris made a down payment and became the new proud owner. Mrs Morris would use the Mini until 1976 (last tax disc displayed) whereupon the car would remain in garage storage. The MG would remain in use until it was put into storage approximately 20 years ago. We are informed that the last time the MG was started was approximately eight years ago. The MG appears sound but very dirty with numerous surface rust marks and flat paint. The brown leather interior appears intact and should respond well to a thorough clean and feed. Bluebelle, as she had become known, was then sent to Coachcraft, a renowned vintage car restorer. A new body was hand crafted in aluminium to match the original. The original engine, gearbox, chassis, back axle and running gear were all restored at the same time along with a full re-trim in leather and a new soft top. The estimated cost of the restoration was between £80,000-100,000. In 1966 Jaguar added a new member to the iconic E-Type range of roadsters and coupés, in the form of the 2+2 coupé, intended to extend the E-Type's appeal beyond the sports car market. The nine inch longer wheelbase coupé with its higher roofline, increased glass area (giving better visibility), added luggage space and occasional rear seats, was aimed firmly at the sporting gentleman with a young family to transport. From 1968 all three versions of the E-Type underwent major modification to comply with US safety legislation. From 1970 the Series III Jaguar was introduced in 2+2 coupé form and roadster configurations, incorporating the mighty V12 5.2 litre engine. These would continue in production until the final 100 models rolled off the production line in distinctive black coachwork in 1975. This California black plate automatic coupé had two previous owners in the sunshine state residing in Palm Springs and Beverly Hills. The vendor purchased the Jaguar from the second owner and imported the car in 2012 and all import duties have been paid. Since the E-Type returned to these shores, the car has undergone a programme of recommissioning, this has included rechroming the brightwork at a cost of approximately £1,500, thoroughly cleaning and feeding the black leather interior and servicing the engine and running gear. The vendor describes the car as very original and extremely rust free. Handsomely finished in a fetching shade of metallic grey, this left hand drive E-Type would be a great European mile eater once it has been registered by the new lucky owner. The car was registered on 4th August 1969 in Rhodesia with the registration number RBD 5644, later changed to 258266 when the records were computerised (original logbook on file). The car remained in Zimbabwe (as Rhodesia became known) with the current owner until December 1984 when the Mercedes was exported to the UK. It was then registered with the current registration number and has remained in the vendor's possession ever since. Over the years works have been carried out as necessary to maintain the Mercedes in a good roadworthy condition. These have included a major engine overhaul in March 1995 (recorded mileage 150,770) when the engine was rebored, new valves and pistons were fitted, and the air conditioning compressor, radiator and sump guard were removed to save weight (but are available if the next owner wishes to reinstate them). In 1999 a body renovation and respray were carried out and the underbody was cleaned and resealed (recorded mileage 167,250), the current recorded mileage now being 179,724 miles. There were two saloon models offered in the range, the basic safety model with Rexine trim, non-opening quarter lights and less luxurious trim, or the De Luxe version with leather trim, opening quarter lights and more luxurious fittings. This De Luxe version was first registered in London on 11th May 1937. She is presented in wonderful oily rag condition with weathered sea green coachwork and a marvellously original green leather interior. Having formed part of a private collection in recent times, prior to that the Minx was in a long term ownership from approximately 1974. The vendor informs us that the little Minx is running and driving very well and indeed the car started very readily on our inspection. Accompanying the Hillman are two MOTs from 1962 and 1963, an expired tax disc 83 A 1975 pre-production Rover SD1 structural integrity test bed car, registration number JYF 227N, chassis number 5, engine number 9, believed to be the oldest known SD1, richelieu red. JYF 227N is a rather special car, as it is the oldest known Special Division (SD1) Rover to have survived. During 1974 the car was used as a structural integrity test vehicle. This involved testing the structure and interior fittings for any weaknesses prior to signing off the design for production. The car remained in the Rover fleet until 1977 when it was destined to be written off, but fortunately it was purchased by a Rover employee who saved it from the crusher. Little is known of its history from 1977 until 1990 when it was discovered by Mark Dixon, a motoring journalist, who persuaded Practical Classics to purchase it as a project car and offer it as a competition prize. Unfortunately the prize winner didn't wish to take on the project and received an equivalent cash prize. Mark subsequently purchased the car from Practical Classics and kept the Rover until 1997 when SD1 club chairman Bill Draper became the owner and took up the massive challenge of restoring the car to its former glory. The restoration was completed by June 1999 and a small celebration took place where Jeoff Purkis, David Bache's number two attached the final nut (securing the steering wheel), and photographs were taken which appeared on the front cover of the SD1 Club's magazine issue 51 November/December 1999 (copy on file). The next custodian, another SD1 club member, Steve Williams, acquired the Rover in 2007. Steve was of the opinion that the Rover would benefit from a freshening up, so the second restoration took place. During the restoration the car was fully resprayed, new old stock Series I passenger and driver's doors were fitted, new seats, alloy wheels and power assisted steering rack, were fitted, the electrical system was overhauled with new starter motor, alternator, distributor and HT leads. The front suspension was rebuilt, the brakes were overhauled with new calipers and rear drum shoes and other numerous items were replaced to create a show standard car. The Rover has formed part of a small West Country car collection in recent times and has had very sparing use, only attending local classic car shows. Accompanying the car is a history file containing a photograph album of the restoration completed by Bill Draper, a copy of CAR November 1975, where it is featured on the front cover, a copy of SD1 owner's club magazine Rover where it features in an article and on the front cover, maintenance receipts and old MOTs. Still presented in show condition, this piece of British automotive history offers an excellent opportunity for the next owner to obtain a unique car which would be a fantastic addition to any museum or private collection. The iconic London red bus is synonymous with London's mean streets and is instantly recognisable anywhere in the world. RM180 was built in 1959 and was registered and went into service at the Loughton depot in February 1960. It would remain in service until October 2005 seeing its final journeys in Reading and Edgware. Since 2006 RM180 has been the jewel in the crown of a Bristol promotional vehicle hire firm. She has been very popular with stag, hen and prom nights and has been a star of film and TV, appearing in the opening credits of the Antiques Roadshow (2010), and a Cliff Richards/Blakey comedy. The bus is maintained to PSV standards on a twelve week inspection (as agreed by VOSA due to low annual mileage), and RM180 will remain in operation until 1st February 2014. The bus was fitted with an uprated Marshall 7.5 litre engine in 2001, together with an Allison gearbox. Further improvements include an infrared beam which informs the driver of anyone standing on the stairs when the bus is in motion, a 14 kW diesel heater on the lower deck which was installed at a cost of £4000. Recent maintenance over and above the usual maintenance schedule has included renewing the prop shaft bearings, the differential has had new planet gears and bearings and the rear hubs have been stripped with new seals fitted, at a cost of £5500. RM180 now offers an excellent business opportunity to the next owner. This charming right hand drive American vintage tourer has been in the current ownership since 1995. During this time it would appear that the car saw a limited use. The Maxwell has obviously been well cared for and would appear to have been restored to a good standard at some point. The car is finished in light blue with black wings and radiator surround. The interior is finished in black leather with a black mohair hood and hood cover, but unfortunately there are not any side screens. The Maxwell will require recommissioning after a period of approximately ten years of inactivity (last tax disc displayed April 2003), but when the car was moved for the auction, none of the brakes were binding, she moved freely and the engine turned over on the starting handle. This large and imposing vintage tourer offers the next owner a straightforward project, and once recommissioned would be a great alternative to a far more expensive British marque.
