CROW River Cleanup 2014 The Crow River Cleanup Day has evolved and grown over the past eleven years. The Crow River Organization of Water (CROW) is a 10 County Joint Powers Organization aimed at preserving and protecting the Crow River and its tributaries. It has helped coordinate over 2,852 volunteers in a watershed-wide clean up day to remove over 64.3 tons of trash from 424.55 miles of shoreline on the Crow River and its tributaries. We are very proud of our volunteers and sponsors, who have collectively served 10, 798 hours, without their determination and tremendous effort, this project would not be successful. Brownton/Stewart Nine, smile filled, volunteers collected 450 pounds from a one mile stretch of the Buffalo Creek, which is a major tributary to the South Fork Crow River. Beebe Lake In their first year out, 19 volunteers on Beebe Lake collected 675 pounds of rubbish from a 6 mile stretch. Their efforts help protect waterbodies in Wright County. Biscay In their 9th consecutive year, 8 hardworking Biscay volunteers collected 200 pounds from 2 miles of shoreline along the South Fork Crow River. Look at those pipes! Cokato 27 amazing volunteers found 300 pounds of recyclables and garbage in a 0.5 mile area. Each person was out for 5.5 hours and definitely worked up an appetite. Delano A whopping 32 hardworking volunteers gathered 250 pounds of litter from 2 miles of the South Fork Crow River. Full of heart and smiles this group did a fantastic job. Delano Sportsman’s Group Four Delano Sportman’s Group members collected 250 pounds in a one mile area along the Crow River. We look forward to seeing you next year! Forest City In their 11 years as part of the North Fork Crow River cleanup, 21 dedicated volunteers from the Forest City crew combed a 2 mile area and collected 450 pounds of litter. Whoa! Hanover In their 11th year, one of our longest running groups, had 22 eager volunteers collect approximately 200 pound from the shoreline of the Crow River. Collectively the group spent 66 hours finding bottles, computer monitors, floatables, and much more. Hanover - Saint Michael This dynamic husband and wife team collected 100 pounds from a lengthy 4 mile stretch along the Crow River. This pair continues to demonstrate a heart for stewardship. Hutchinson In 11 amazing years, the Hutchinson team has had 388 volunteers. This year, 22 volunteers worked a collective 88 hours to remove 600 pounds of rubbish from 2 miles of shoreline along the South Fork Crow River. Keep up the good work! Lake Allie and Lake Preston This 13 person group covered 10 miles of Lake Allie and through their hard work, they collected 150 pounds of plastic, rubber, glass, and paper. This group is doing a wonderful job of keeping one of Renville County’s treasures beautiful! Lake Koronis This enthusiastic pair of volunteers collected 20 pounds of litter from 4 miles Lake Koronis and opened a path for canoe access between Lake Koronis and Rice Lake. Manannah This trio collected 500 pounds of junk from a 13 mile stretch of the Middle Fork Crow River, all while paddling! What a wonderful way to enjoy and protect the resource. Paynesville In a rather successful morning, 21 Trail Guards and famillies met in Paynesville and picked up 500 pounds of metal, wood, plastic, and cigarettes from 2 miles. In the last 10 years, a cumulative total of 388 volunteers have been spent cleaning on shoreline in this area. Wow! Saint Michael 11 joyful and eager volunteers scoured for garbage along 1 mile of the Crow River and Regal Creek Tributary. With a total of 33 volunteer hours, the group collected 350 pounds, which including a usable trailer. Watertown During their adventurous morning, 17 individuals volunteered a total of 51 hours protecting the South Fork Crow from pollution. Within a 2 mile stretch, the group collected 170 pounds.
