Get the word out!
Spreading the word is a critical element to the success of
every blood drive. Be creative and have fun when promoting
the blood drive! Consider the following:
•Talk it up! Personally ask people to give blood.
•Use recruitment tools provided by LifeServe Blood Center to promote the blood drive including publicity materials and the online Chairperson Rewards & Resources program.
•Call and/or email potential donors about the blood drive.
•Remember that your LifeServe Blood Center Representative is always available to give a brief presentation about donating blood to any groups interested in learning more.

Recruit Donors
It’s easy! Be positive, enthusiastic and educated about the
blood donation process and simply ask someone to become
a blood donor. A personal, face-to-face invitation makes all
the difference!
Consider these recruitment ideas:
Be Creative and Give Your Event Pizzazz!
• Create a theme for the blood drive.
• Encourage donors to sign up before the blood drive by handing out candy or treats at the sign-up table with a creative message:
•“Roll Up Your Sleeve” with Tootsie Rolls.
•“Let’s Pull Together” with Taffy.
•“We’re Sweet on Blood Donors”
with Chocolate Kisses.
•“Save a Life” with Life Savers.
•Challenge employees to see which department can
recruit more blood donors. Offer the winning department an incentive such as a pizza party or ice cream social.
Be Visible!
• Have a sign-up table in the cafeteria or a busy hallway.
• Hang posters in break rooms, hallways and common areas.
• Place table tents on the tables in the cafeteria.
Be Fashionable!
• Borrow a “blood drop” costume from LifeServe Blood Center and wear it in the office to create some additional buzz for the blood drive.
Be Generous!
• Ask management to allow employees to donate blood on the clock.
• Offer additional paid vacation time for blood donors.
• Provide a free breakfast or lunch for blood donors.
• Hold drawings for prizes such as movie passes, restaurant gift certificates and shopping gift cards.
• Handout items with your company logo.
• Ask your LifeServe Representative for giveaway items.

lts Blood Drive Wrap-Up
•Thank everyone! Make sure to include donors, volunteers and anyone else who helped with the blood
drive.
•Publicize attendees!
Publish the list of names of donors and volunteers who attended the drive in the company newsletter or via email.
•Evaluate it!
Complete the paper or online survey to let us know how your blood drive went. Please offer suggestions on how we can make improvements!
•Reschedule it!
The key to a stable blood supply is frequent blood donations. Schedule another blood drive at your office to help maintain the blood supply. If you already have another drive scheduled, be sure to notify your LifeServe Blood Center Representative of any changes to the location, drive date or hours of the drive.
