Case: Filter refurbish at Cosmos Nickel
Cosmos upgraded & optimized its processing
plant for increasing production targets in 2009
Bottlenecks included a 17-year-old Larox
pressure filter, badly corroded, limited life left
Challenge: an upgrade and modernization was
not in Cosmos’s best long term interests, and
delivering a new one would take too long
Solution: second-hand filter was found in
England, refurbished, successfully installed &
began operating the first week of August 2009
Allows 30% more capacity and 15 more years of
operation
