FLYING GEESE
QUILTERS GUILD
September Meeting
And
Auction Quilts
Linda Smith shared “Quilt for Mamaw,” made by her to celebrate the 100th birthday of
her mother, Jewel Berry, in August. All of Jewel’s children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren made a block for her in this special quilt.
Sharron Keck showed “Laura’s Wedding Quilt.” It was machine pieced and
quilted for her daughter’s wedding—15 years ago! Her mom started it when
she was ill and Sharron finished it. The block pattern is clams on the half-shell.
Ann Boughey shared a Christmas quilt, a UFO she started 7 years
ago. She used Debbie Mumm fabric and is donating it to the
auction. We appreciate it, Ann!
Sandy Montooth brought “Sunny Fund Flowers” using crazy log pieced
sunflowers. It’s also destined for the auction. Thanks, Sandy!
Sandy Montooth and Sharon Brandt shared “Ribbon Candy” made by
their friendship group, Twisted Threads, for the Auction. What an
Auction this will be!
Sharon Brandt also showed “Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh My!”
It’s a baby quilt, also for the auction. Sharon has been a busy gal!
Kathy Irvine shared “Fall Beauty,” in which she used machineembroidered blocks to create this pretty mini-quilt wall hanging for the
Auction.
Kathy Irvine and her friendship group showed off “Forest Fantasy,” a
machine-pieced quilt. Stitchin” Friends has generously donated it for
the Auction.
Ursula Hartunian shared “Hallelujah” 1, 2, & 3. They are Leah’s
Saturday samplers from her first year of quilting. She finished
these UFOs with the help of Diane Fish.

Dianne Gosin shared her second completed UFO. It has a center
Jacobean appliqué surrounded by border prints.
Sandy Sutton brought “Dawn’s Farewell,” a signature quilt for Guild
and Repiecer member Dawn Ronningen, who recently moved to
Colorado.
Sallie Jones showed “All Day, All Night, Marrianne.” She loved
the pattern, but changed the sky. It’s another donation for the
Auction. What generous members we have!
Diane Searer brought “Amish Sunset” from a top completed in 2000 (her first
quilt) in a class at Leah’s in Orange. It was quilted in 2012 by Mike Qualls and
finished 9/9/12. This is her second completed UFO for the challenge.
Kaija Banks shared “Raspberry Truffles,” a red and brown quilt for her
daughter and son-in-law, and UFO #3 completed for the challenge. It was
supposed to be last year’s Christmas present. She quilted it on her Juki.
The back of the quilt shows Kaija’s wonderful quilting.
Bette Bradley showed “A Dozen Posies,” which is a miniature copy of a 1930s
pattern. It’s machine-embroidered and machine-quilted. Bette also showed
“Sunbonnet Sue’s Garden,” also a miniature copy of a 30s pattern. She handembroidered and hand-quilted it.
Janet Gavney brought a “Found Treasure” that was her Grandmother’s
quilt. It’s a fan pattern from the 1930s.
Sandy Ingraham shared “Pooh & Friends,” a baby quilt for the first
Ingraham grandson.
Diane Healey showed a baby quilt featuring the ABCs.
Gale Slagle brought a “Fractured 9 Patch” made by her friendship
group, The Twisted Stitchers, for the Auction. Thanks so much!
Leslie Cushing shared “Summer Bouque,” a Teri Christianson pattern
that was hand appliquéd by Leslie’s friendship group. It was quilted by
Faith Horskey for the Auction.
Nancy Chocek showed “Catch Me If You Can,” made by Karen Kiddy
and Jeannie Brown for the Auction. Adorable and clever!
Lara Wong brought “Merry Grinchmas, Mathias,” a quilt she and her
mother designed for her son last Christmas.
Pat Chambers shared “Nancy’s Bag,” which she made in the September
workshop with Nancy Rinke. Nice job, Pat! (Editor’s note: I’m sorry, I
didn’t get a good picture of Pat’s darling bag.)
Sandra Usher shared her basket quilt.
