Calibration Instructions – 500PT
1. Mark one of the metering rollers with a felt-tip marker.
2. Pour enough product for the duration of the test into the side of the hopper with the
marked roller.
3. Remove the venturi bottom plate by unhooking the rubber latch.
4. Insert the venturi cover plate into the venturis. This will ensure that product does not fall
into the manifold during calibration.
5. Install the calibration crank onto the gearbox input shaft.
6. Place a large container under the venturis to catch the product. Turn the crank until
product is flowing across the entire width of the metering roller. Make sure that product
flows from the bottom of the metering roller, not the top.
7. Empty the container and place it back under the venturis.
8. Turn the crank until the metering roller turns 10 revolutions.
9. Weigh the product collected. Divide this weight by 5. The end result is the product flow
rate in pounds per revolution of the two metering rollers.
10. Multiply this product flow rate by the Metering Roller Revolutions per Acre in each
gearbox setting listed on the blank charts. Use the pesticide chart for the Red Roller and
the fertilizer chart for the Stainless Steel Roller.
11. When the chart is complete, select the gearbox setting that is closest to the desired
application rate.
