EIB Diagnostics 5. Engineering data 6. Check lists/Causes of trouble Safety advice • This is a product for the EIB system. It was developed in accordance with the guidelines of the Developer Manual • This specification may only be understood in conjunction with this system. • Detailed knowledge through an EIB system training (course) is a prerequisite for understanding this specification. Assembly/supply connection/commissioning must be carried out by a specialist or under the direction and supervision of such a specialist with appropriate care. The content of the EIB product databank (manual) gives help and advice for planning and commissioning this product with the ETS (European Telephone System?). Allocation of the physical address, programming of the project specific data is effected likewise with the ETS. In individual cases consultation with the EIB project manager is necessary. 2. Assembly/Installation The equipment is exclusively for operation in the interior of buildings. Basic circuit diagram It may only be operated in residential rooms or rooms in which all conductors and equipment operated by mains voltage are protected at least in accordance with protection class I, II, or III. The supply cable is not to come into contact with the hot heaters/pipework. Actuator 2.1 Actuator assembly If necessary dismantle existing thermostat head from the heater valve. (unscrew screws or union nuts). Before assembling the actuator it is recommended that the moveability of the tappet on the heater valve is checked. Push in the tappet with suitable tool and if necessary ensure it is working. 2.1.1 Assembly without adapter When assembling do not lock the threads or use any force. Ascertain the valve type! ( Red = plus / black(blue) = minus) This conductor must be taken separately to a 230 v installation. 3.2 Initialisation Allocation of the physical address, together with the programming of this project specific data is effected with the ETS. In individual cases consultation with the EIB project manager is necessary. Inscribe the enclosed label and stick onto the position marked. Pull clip forwards and remove screen (shield) Addressfield Programming key Clip on screen/shield. Of course, you may also accommodate the address label in another, suitable place. 3.3 Commissioning/adjustment action ! The adjustment action is effected even without allocation of the physical address. If the bus voltage is applied an adjustment action starts automatically, approximately 8 minutes. • The drive seeks out its mechanical endpoint, valve closed = 0%. • When the valve becomes completely open = 100% = automatic rinse. (deposited items are rinsed out) • If no reference value (setpoint) is received, the drive adjusts itself to the factory setting, 128 = 50%, see product databank handbook, "setpoint after commissioning" parameter. Note: If equipment to transmit a setpoint is not installed, the drive remains at 50%. You can in any case heat. When is the automatic adjustment action carried out ? • After commissioning • After every resetting of the bus voltage • After every rinsing process (see 3.5.2) • When a setpoint of 0% is present and no adjustment has taken place within the last 24 hours • At least once per week 3.4 Objects (see also EIB product databank (handbook)) The application for this actuator can serve 4 objects: Object 0 = setpoint/manipulated variable (EIS 6/1 byte) – received, eg from an EIB room thermostat. Object 1 = actual value/manipulated variable (EIS 6/1 byte) – read on demand, eg by computer Object 2 = operating condition/status (non EIS/1 byte) – for the specific diagnosis, see EIB diagnostics Object 3 = input/mandatory position (EIS 1/1bit) – received, eg from a window contact Note: if no units are assembled in your EIB installation which offer a frost protection function, object 3 may be assigned with an appropriate address. The value which you specify for the parameter "mandatory position", determines how far the valve remains open. This value must be selected according to valve type and manufacturer. Consequently frost protection is ensured in this simple manner. 3.5 Parameters (see also EIB product databank -handbook) 3.5.1 Factory adjustments The terms of reference for these parameters are: • Setpoint after commissioning Object 0 = 128 ( 50 % ) • Mandatory position Object 3 = 128 ( 50 % ) You may adjust these values individually between 0 and 255. 3.5.2 Automatic rinsing This process is also activated outside the heating period. It is to prevent the heater valve seizing up and to rinse out the deposits and dirt. • If the parameter is set to ON, the actuator "goes" 1x completely to =100% in the 30 days cycle. The 30 days cycle begins when the bus voltage is switched on (also following a reset). • If the parameter is set to OFF, a rinsing process is initiated every 24 hours, for safety reasons. When this rinsing process is finished, the actuator adopts a position corresponding to the actual setpoint. 4. EIB Diagnostics (Detailed knowledge is necessary for this part of the ETS) Object 2 offers the possibility of interrogating particular data/conditions from any actuator in your installation via a dedicated group address, at any time. The table shows the arrangement - referred to the respective numeric value. Checklists / Causes of Trouble 6.1 General • The central heating plant must be switched on. • Adequate heating energy must be available. • The heating plant/heating characteristics must be correctly set. Central Heating plant Recommendation: The "time window - ON/OFF" in the central heating plant, must be greater than that of the respective room thermostat. Consequently, this guarantees that the heating energy is always available at the proper time in the respective room. Room 1 Room 2 Room 3 Central heating plant ON = normal temp. OFF= withdrawal temp 6.2 Assembly / Supply connection to the Actuator • Has the valve been fitted with the appropriate adapter parts? (see table) • Has the correct actuator been fitted? (referred to the current project data - physical address / project data) • Has the connecting cable been connected correctly to the bus? (heed polarity) 6.3 EIB Specific Data Has the actuator been programmed with the correct project-related data? • Physical address • Application • Group addresses • Parameter settings 6.4 Fault localisation Heater remains cold / heated continuously Cause Measures No mains voltage for the central heating plant Check automatic safety switch in main switchboard Mains switch "heating" is OFF Mains switch "heating" ON Check in front of the heating furnace! No bus voltage Check the automatic safety switch in the EIB distributor , Check the EIB power pack (unit) / choke Check the EIB connector to the installation Note: After switching on the bus voltage again, an adjustment cycle will start, see commissioning. Cause Measures Setpoint too low / too high Check setpoint eg., EIB room thermostat timer Group address for the object is not transmitted Check group addresses (project data / communication) Programming unsuccessful Check applications Repeat programming Note: If you cannot remove the fault immediately, dismantle the actuator from the heater valve - valve is open. The heating operation is conditionally guaranteed.
