Most Holy Trinity archstl.org/dynamic On this Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, we reflect on this central mystery of the Christian faith. Today’s Gospel included the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the three persons of the Trinity: one God in three persons. “The Father generates the Son; the Son is generated by the Father; the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son” (Compendium, 48). The doctrine of the Trinity includes three truths of faith: 1) the Trinity is One; 2) the Divine Persons are distinct; 3) the Divine Persons are in relation to each other. Dear Parishioners, This is the time of year when parents are encouraged to sign up their children for next season’s Parish School of Religion (PSR) program. We are blessed to have Ms. Patricia Foley and her very dedicated teaching staff working with our students. As many of you know, we have an extraordinary day school and we are proud of our 50+ year tradition and the many children who are a part of Holy Infant School. We are equally proud of our children attending our Parish School of Religion. Admittedly, we only see them an hour each week at class and an hour on Sundays when they attend Mass with their families, but our goal is to have all our families involved in the full range of ministries and activities here at Holy Infant. One of the boons of the Christ Renews His Parish “Chirp” retreats is that we have had a healthy mix of day school and PSR parents participating. The kids play on CYC sports teams together; they attend Vacation Bible School together; parents from both schools get their children involved in service projects. PSR parents are invited to join small church communities, join MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers), become Stephen Ministers, sign up their children for serving at liturgies and attend faith formation programs at various times throughout the year. There is an effort underway in the Archdiocese right now called "Be One." I would love it if we could have even more ways at work here in the parish that would facilitate all of our folks from all constituencies of the parish coming together. St. Paul reminds us that there are many gifts but the same Spirit working in all of us; each has a special gift to bring to bear. As we begin this new liturgical season, perhaps we can commit ourselves to bringing the Spirit of Holy Infant to life wherever our families are found. Thanks to all who help to promote such a positive spirit of community in our parish! On a final note, please remember to mark your calendars for our final farewell celebration for Sr. Rosario Delaney and Sr. Laurentia Cusack as they prepare for their retirement in Ireland. We have been so blessed by their goodness for so many years and it is fitting to honor them in a special way as they prepare for this next chapter in their lives. The farewell liturgy will take place on Sunday, June 12th at our 10:15 a.m. Mass followed by a reception in our Upper Cafeteria. Please help us spread the word about this special farewell celebration. All are most welcome to attend. God’s blessings to you and your family! The gifts we return are our time, our talent and our treasure. We return these gifts not because God or our Church needs them but because we feel an overwhelming need to show our love and gratitude to God. Transformative - Stewardship is transformative. Once we embrace the stewardship message it changes the way we look at every decision we make. Stewardship becomes a total way of life. A Love Response - Once we allow God to truly take up residence in our hearts we become so overwhelmed by His abundant love for us that we just naturally feel the need to join our lives with Him and dedicate our time, talent and treasure to carrying out God’s work here on earth. All fifteen of the aspects of stewardship can be found on the stewardship web site at www.archstl.org/stewardship. Click on “Stewardship Education” and then “Stewardship Is….” THE MOST HOLY TRINITY MAY 22, 2016 As part of a new parish effort to enrich our faith and empower virtue in our ac ons…. RESPECT LIFE APOSTOLATE It can be easy to fall into despair and frustration at where society appears to be headed. We may doubt the effectiveness of our prayers and actions to build a culture of life. We may wonder if things will ever improve. As Christians, we are called to live in the hope of the risen Christ and to trust Christ's promise of a lasting joy that will never end. As Pope Francis stated: "Pain is pain but if lived through with joy and hope it will open the door for you to the joy of a new being. This image of the Lord should give us great hope amidst our difficulties: difficulties that often are awful, horrible difficulties that can even make us doubt our faith…But with joy and hope we journey forward because after this tempest a new man arrives, just like with a woman giving birth. And Jesus tells us that this is a lasting joy and hope that will not go away." Let nobody say they are too old to be concerned about abortion. As long as we possess life, we have the duty and privilege to defend life.
