Registrar’s Office
3-5 High Street, PERTH PH1 5JS Tel 01738 475122
The office holds statutory records of births, deaths and marriages for Perth and
Kinross from 1855. It also has access to the Registrar General’s index for the
whole of Scotland, which includes indexes to the Old Parish Records (OPRs)
and the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census.
All computerised offices within Scotland now have access to DIGROS (Digital
Imaging of General Register Office Scotland events). This means that offices
can now issue certificates for anywhere in Scotland and can look up any record
for the whole of Scotland from 1855. The 1891 and 1901 Census can also be
inspected.
The statutory fee for a one-hour general search is £10.00. This means that
pencil notes can be taken - if certificates are wanted they would cost £8.50
each. Search places must be booked in advance by telephoning the number
given above. An information only search can also be carried out costing
£5.00 per entry.
