FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
I hope all mothers enjoyed their special day on Sunday and were spoilt. The
P & C ran another successful Mother’s Day Stall and every student was able
to purchase a gift for their mum. Well done to the team of volunteer
“wrappers” and to every family who donated a gift. A fabulous
community team effort! There were many Mother’s Day projects
operating around the school from the Art room through classes extending
to the kindy. The mums/grandmas who attended the Mother’s Day
pampering afternoon tea enjoyed an afternoon of nail painting, massages
and a lovely afternoon tea. Many mums were seen sporting a lovely make
up job!!
UPCOMING EVENTS…
Friday 15 May -PP3 Assembly
PEAC Testing 18—21 May
Lapathon—Tuesday 26 May
Last week our IPS School Review was completed and special thanks to the members of our School Board and staff
for their significant input and time. Mrs Kerry Usher, Mrs Georgie Detuik and Su Wilson certainly enjoyed their
time in our school and were most appreciative for the opportunity to meet with parents, students, staff and
community members in order to fully complete the review. A report to the Department of Education Services
(DES) will be compiled and a draft copy will then be forwarded to the school, for any additional comment or
amendments. Following this the final School Review Report will then be presented to the Minister for Education
and the Director General, and once signed off the school will receive a copy to distribute to parents and
interested community members. This process may take up to 6-8 weeks and we are looking forward to sharing
the comments with you once received. Once again, thank you to everyone that has been involved with the review
process.
In the meantime our school is in the process of drafting our next 3 year Business Plan, and would certainly like to
hear from parents and the community any components that you would like to see included. 2014/5 Parent and
Staff survey results, together with our internal school review data & subsequent recommendations will be utilised
to guide the direction that our school takes. However, if you have any particular recommendations please feel
free to contact me or a member of the School Board, so that your feedback can be considered. This is an
important process and your contributions will be valued and appreciated.

KINROSS PRIMARY SCHOOL
A reminder that the date of the LAPATHON has
changed to 26th May. This is a wonderful
community event and has been very successful in
previous years. Funds raised will be used to
support and benefit all the students. Students are
encouraged to wear their “footy colours” on the
day. I hope to see lots of blue and yellow!
There has been an increase in parents phoning the
office to deliver messages to their child/ren.
Whilst it is vital students know where they need to
meet after school or who is picking them up we ask
that, where possible, arrangements are made
before the start of the day.
YEAR 2 CLASS
WORKING HARD
Over the coming week our year 3 and 5 students will be involved in NAPLAN
testing with the year 4 students participating in PEAC testing. This Friday PP3
will be running the assembly – the first time pre-primary students have done
so in the history of the school. I look forward to what they have in store for
us!

P&C NEWS UPDATE
Mother’s Day Stall
Thank you so much to our generous school community for all the great gifts which were donated for our
Mother’s Day Stall. They were lovingly wrapped by P&C volunteers and it was great fun to watch the kids
choosing so carefully. We hope all our KPS Mum’s liked their gifts as much as the children enjoyed choosing
them. A special thank you to all who donated their time to make this wonderful fundraiser possible.
Nature Play Garden
Please let us know if you would like to be on the nature play subcommittee. We will be meeting shortly (date and
time TBA) to finalise the planning and design. We will need volunteers for a few working bees in the July school
holidays, so if you are handy with a shovel, rake or wheel barrow, we need you! We also will be calling for
specialist hands on help with laying new lawn and making new pathways. If you know anyone who would be
interested in helping out please get in touch!
P&C Workshop
Kinross P&C will be hosting a free P&C workshop run by WACSSO on Tuesday 19th from 9-11.30 at school. Come
along if you are interested to learn what the P&C can do for our school and how you can contribute, support the
school and meet other parents.
Uniform Update
Zip jackets - this has been unfortunate but according to the supplier there was a mistake in the material provided
to the factory in Indonesia and so it has taken time to source a replacement. I am assured they will be in the
country next week, then they are sent to the printers and as you can imagine we are in a big queue.
All orders will be processed first. A re-supply order has also been placed so hopefully that will be filled quickly
and ensure we have a good supply for the future.
I have had many inquiries regarding long sleeved polo tops and if we can bring back the jumper/pullover. We
really need to know how many parents are wanting these items before any ordering can take place, as I have
been told that the first order placed must total 200 for the polo shirts and about 20 minimum per size (this
needs to be verified) for the jumpers.
Please let the uniform shop know if you are interested in any of these options.
The faction shirts are on order and should be ready in approximately 3-4weeks. I have asked if they can be ready
by the end of term. Margaret Patullo

Thank you to all the helpers, especially the new people that have stepped in to help both with the uniform shop and
the second hand stall. Many hands make light work!
Canteen Update
Please be advised that the daily meal deal now comes with hi-lo milk and a Sippah straw instead of water. This
change was made as children already bring water to school.
Rob Elphick (a local firefighter and parent at the school) came in to talk to the P&C about the community program
on Fire safety Education they do in schools. They were wishing to get feedback from the parents as to whether the
information they teach is getting through to the children. They are sending out a survey to the parents that attended the meeting to see if this is the case. He also left some details where lots of valuable information on Fire emergency services can be found.
Many thanks, the P&C.
