Maverick REV-6 n-s trike S eries MAVERICK REV-6: WHITEOUT VERSION Every now and then, a blaster design comes along that is so striking and original it becomes a legend in its own time—the Maverick REV-6 is one of these. Originally released in 2005 in a blue, yellow, grey, and orange color scheme, the Maverick was quickly rereleased in the N-Strike yellow color scheme and became the most popular blaster NERF has ever produced [XX: CHECK—AS I RECALL, SALES OF THIS BLASTER ARE LARGER THAN ANY OTHER]. It is so well-loved, in fact, that it is common to see NERFers packing two of these six-shooters (just like a sheriff of the Wild West might). To load the Maverick, press the button located on the side of the muzzle, right in front of the trigger, which releases the cylinder far enough out to load two chambers at a time. When all six chambers are loaded, slap the cylinder back into the muzzle with the loading hand or flip it back into place with the shooting hand. Now the blaster is ready to be cocked and fired: just crank back the slide between each shot and blast away! As every dart is fired, the cylinder revolves clockwise (as seen from behind) to align the next chamber with the muzzle. The tactical rail is located on the top surface of the slide and doubles as the rear half of the blaster’s sights. If your style is to keep your hand on the slide to increase how fast you can reload and fire, you will be sacrificing the ability to line up the sights on your target. 9 THE ULTIMATE BLASTER BOOK MAVERICK REV-6: N-STRIKE VS. The Maverick was made in the widest possible range of color schemes: the original blue, yellow, grey, and orange; N-Strike yellow; Clear; Sonic; Gear Up; and Whiteout. And it came in a couple of other packages: a Double Your Darts! value pack came with 6 extra Sonic Whistler Darts, and Walmart and K-Mart sold exclusive two-Maverick packs that came with 24 Sonic Micro Darts. It also inspired the Walmart-exclusive Spectre Rev-5, which had a smaller cylinder and came with a detachable silencer. An even better indication of the importance of the Maverick, the iconic six-barrel design lives on in the Elite line with the Strongarm (page XX). THE ULTIMATE BLASTER BOOK 9
