SUPER-RESPONSIVE , 2-STROKE RACING ENGINE *The high-performance 84cc liquid-cooled 2-stroke engine features the Kawasaki Integrated Power-valve ® System (KIPS ) that varies exhaust port height for increased horsepower and torque. Maximum power of 21.0 kW {28.5 PS}is produced at 12,000 rpm. Maximum torque is 17.2 N-m at 11,000 rpm. The cylinder is Electrofusion plated for efficient seizure resistance, heat transfer and long wear. A Keihin PWK 28 semi-flat slide carburettor positions the nozzle jet close to the cylinder for sharp response across the rev range. The intake system is controlled by piston port design using 2-petal type carbon fibre reeds for quick response and durability. Precise, digital CDI ignition delivers a hot spark and reliable ignition. The large air intake on the right side of the airbox improves airflow to the air cleaner. Filter maintenance is simple. Transmission Race proven 6-speed manual gearbox with ratios chosen to deliver optimum performance. The wet type multi-disc clutch is designed to survive the tough environment of motocross competition. Chassis Perimeter type frame offers the advantages of strength and torsional rigidity making the KX85 handling among the best in class. The lightweight chassis is designed to take years of competition without failure. The 36 mm upside-down front forks deliver sharp handling and smooth jumping performance. The fork caps are finished in Blue Alumite just like the US factory racers. ® Bottom-Link UNI-TRAK rear suspension offers 275 mm of travel and features a remote-reservoir gas charged shock that is fully adjustable for spring preload, compression and rebound damping. The sturdy race developed swingarm delivers good handling performance over rough terrain.
