Straight from Mombasa, Kenya, Jabali African Acrobats’ performance will combine athletic artistry, contortions, strength, flexibility, and dance. amazing feats (some with fire). Known as “Kenya’s high energy super-circus,” members have described their show as, “part Cirque du Soleil, part Harlem Globetrotters.” School Performances: February. 3 - 6, 10:15 AM & Noon Pubic Performance: Friday, February 6 at 7:30 pm, Atwood Concert Hall. Acrobats bounce, bop, and balance non-stop to a joyful Benga beat as they transition from dancing to human pyramids, chair balancing, complex footwork and other GIVING EVERY KID A CHANCE Ahead of the performance, everyone is invited to these FREE outreach events with opportunities to interact with the members of Jabali African Acrobats: Jabali will provide a special performance at Alaska Junior Theater’s Annual Benefit Dinner! Enjoy a champagne reception & dinner, silent & live auction, a performance by Jabali African Acrobats, music and dancing. Sponsored by GCI, the Benefit is for the community to help bring the arts into the lives of children who may otherwise never see a live performance. Community Welcome Dinner: Monday, February 2, 6:00 pm at Begich Middle School, the public is invited to attend a potluck welcome dinner for Jabali. Bring a dish to share and meet the members of the troupe at this free event. Library Limbo/African Dance Workshop: Wednesday, February 4, 4:00 pm at Mountain View Library (120 Bragaw Street).
