The game show theme was incorporated in all aspects of the room décor. The following photos show the finer details. The backdrop was an 170” x 96” banner meant to mimic the background of the $100,000 Pyramid game show that first aired in the 1970s. The backdrop predominately placed our event sponsors throughout the entire program. Rather than having a traditional wooden podium in front of the audience, we decided to take advantage of the space by further incorporating the game show theme. The idea behind the design came from The Price is Right Showcase Showdown segment. The signs on each table were designed as if they were a panel piece of the Wheel of Fortune wheel and had the sponsors name displayed. There were also fully functional The Price is Right wheels on each table. At each place setting attendees found the event program and trivia game card. The programs were designed with The Price is Right Plinko board in mind. All sponsors were included on the program. In the lobby of the conference center, attendees were welcomed by Chamber staff. This was their first glimpse of the game show theme. Their name tags were created to look like The Price is Right name tags. 276 members of the local business community attended the 2013 Champaign County Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting; that is a five percent increase from 2012. This is a shot of the entire audience engaged in the game “Face Off”, which was led by Dan of The Big Game Show. One of the goals of the event was to engage attendees with an exciting, interactive program and these next two photos demonstrate that. The game was called “Drop it Like it’s Hot.” The winners received prizes which were donated by Chamber member businesses. With attire donated by Michelle’s Bridal and Tuxedo and hair services donated by Rod Sickler Salon and Spa, the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce staff was transformed into our version of Vanna White. TESTIMONIALS: “The Chamber Meeting each year seems to get more and more exciting. The attention to detail that the Chamber put in with the 2013 event was amazing. I’ve been to other Chamber events in different parts of the country Chicago, Atlanta, St. Louis, and I have to say, for ChampaignUrbana, this was probably the best put together Chamber event I’ve ever been to in the 25 years I’ve been in this business.” -Rhonda Sharp “Great event, it was very refreshing to go to something a little different.” -Anonymous I just hosted the Chamber Annual Meeting in Champaign, IL and it was absolutely incredible. The Chamber members were alive and we had a great time. I have to say that the backdrop to the other decorations were first-class and top notch. There’s one thing that I know; if you have a strong Chamber, you’ve got a strong community. It was a pleasure being here.” -Dan Roberts, host of The Big Game Show The Chamber team was totally engaged, showing spirit and passion.” -Anonymous “I thought everything was well done. I thought the game show presenter did a great job of engaging the audience.” -Anonymous Don’t forget to check out the hard copies of event materials on the inside folder of the binder. The Roofing Dog will be presented the coveted award today at the 2013 Chamber Annual Meeting from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Champaign. When asked about winning this award, owner Cory Swanson said, “It is truly an honor and a blessing to be awarded and recognized as Small Business of the Year by the Chamber. We would like to thank all of our customers throughout the years who have hired us and have recommended us to others they know. Going forward this award will give credibility to the message we convey to our customers about the integrity our business is built upon. Maintaining our business model will be strengthened by the Small Business of the Year recognition.” The Small Business of the Year Award is given to an outstanding small business that has made a significant, long-term contribution to the local community and economy. The award is intended to recognize a successful and growing business that has achieved its status through ingenuity and hard work. The Chamber has been honoring local businesses with this award for more than 20 years. The Roofing Dog deals in construction, specifically residential roofing of existing homes. They have been members of the Chamber since 2008 and believe firmly in being involved with the local community and giving back as much as possible. Owner, Cory Swanson, was a 2009 recipient of the “Forty Under 40” award in Champaign County. Despite roofing contractors consistently ranking near the top in complaints, The Roofing Dog has maintained an A+ rating since becoming a BBB accredited company in 2008.
