First is trying to post rides for chapter members. These rides are out of the norm
such as Sturgis, Dayton, National Hog Rally (OK City), TN State Rally, or any other
state’s rally, and so on. The idea is if a chapter member is planning a unique ride and
would like company, let’s post it for chapter members to sign up. The main chapter
member is the originator and is responsible for planning these rides.
Second is one scheduled chapter sponsored ride per month (50% rule will be
enforced).
Third is a standing chapter policy for open rides any weekend. Chapter members
get together and ride. This will not be a chapter sponsored ride.
Fourth, I would like to get maximum chapter participation in the HOG’s ABC.
Let’s make it a challenge. We have to ride to get those.
Chapter membership and participation is one of my main priorities. We need to ask
ourselves as a chapter, why is there a low number of chapter members attending the
meetings, joining the chapter, going on the rides, and participating in chapter events. We,
as a chapter, need to come up with solutions to make the chapter fun and exciting to bring
in new members and get maximum attendance to events. This can be accomplished
through detailed planning, advertising, and new ideas. Let’s make it a goal to have our
members at this years Christmas party say 2009 was a great year and looking forward to
2010.
Last for now are my views on the monthly chapter meeting. I believe that the
chapter monthly meeting should be focused on chapter member bonding and new member
introductions. Nobody wants to here me run off at the gums for an hour.

Hello to All,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and is ready for a GREAT NEW
YEAR!! I know it is winter now, but riding season is right around the corner.
We’re looking forward to a lot of great participation and a fun filled season! As the
new Secretary for 2009, I will be sending out a lot of notices about meetings, rides,
etc. so that everyone is well informed in advance so that adequate plans can be made
to attend. Look for more from me in future emails, newsletters, etc.
January 30 is the deadline for Chapter renewals so if you did not attend the January
meeting and sign up or have not already sent it to me, please get your forms
completed and mailed to me by month’s end. Please print the form, fill it out, sign
it, enclose a $20 check made payable to: Nashville, TN HOG Chapter # 2388 and
mail to me at:
David Parkes
141 Morton Mill Circle

We will have ONE Chapter Sponsored Ride per month. Our
Chapter Sponsored Rides will be the Saturday following each monthly meeting and they
will begin in March.

We would like as many as possible to participate in the HOG ABC's of touring
Challenge. This is not only something fun to accomplish over the riding season, but
it’s also a good way to generate rides on the days when we do
not have planned chapter sponsored rides. Here's how it
works: Keep a camera and a copy of a current issue of HOG
Magazine with your bike. Then, you can earn points by
submitting photographs of you and your Harley, or your
H.O.G. Fly & Ride rental bike, in front of
official signs while holding a current
copy of one of the magazines. The idea
is to visit cities and counties beginning
with as many different letters of the
alphabet and as many states and provinces as possible. There
are other ways to earn points, too, such as by attending State,
National, or International Rallies, visiting national parks or
forests, Harley-Davidson facilities, etc. At the end of the year,
we reward the highest point totals with great prizes and 15
minutes of fame (top winners are listed here on this Website). You can also earn
awards just for reaching certain point levels. But when all is said and done, it's not a
matter of whether you win or lose (besides, how can you lose?), it's how you play the
game: by touring the country on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Forms are
available through the chapter or through the HOG website.

We, (Bull & others), are in the process of creating a Chapter
Calendar of Events including important dates, etc. We should have
it complete by the February meeting. We plan to have in a format
where it can be emailed to everyone.

Polar Bear Ride is Scheduled for Saturday 1/24/09
Meet at the Bost's Dealership at 10:00 am and we will head out at 11:00 am for a
short ride to the Brewhouse on Charlotte for lunch and socializing. For those that
do not want to brave the cold, please just drive / ride in your vehicle. We would like
a big turnout on bikes, but would rather have a big crowd and enjoy everyone's
company, so join us no matter whether you are on your bike or not.
WARNING!! Playing golf can result in serious injuries as seen here!!
Stay on your Harleys!!!

2009 has arrived! I hope everyone had a good Christmas and a Happy New Year. I
especially did since my newest grandson was born on New Year’s Eve at 11:54PM!
I have volunteered to do Ladies of Harley this year, as well as Activities Director. If
you have any suggestions for rides for this year please, please let me hear from you.
The officers decided to schedule only one Chapter ride on the second Saturday of
the month beginning in March. We thought it would also be a good idea to schedule
a spring picnic and a fall picnic to, sort of, represent the beginning and end of the
riding season.
Currently, I am trying to set up the Valentines Ride. We’d like to have it at
Antonio's in Bellevue again this year. Mark your calendars for the 21st of
February. I will have additional information at the meeting next week.
In addition, those Ladies that ride or that would like to participate in the Ladies of
Harley’s planning of activities get together so we can discuss ideas for both events
and rides.
