Jamaican Wedding Documentation & Requirements
In order to be legally married in Jamaica, there are documentation requirements, as well as government
requirements in their country. Please read over these items carefully and advise us of any questions you
may have.




Residency requirement - 48 hours (including weekends and holidays)
State issued birth certificate
All pages of all court certified final divorce decrees
State issued death certificates with related marriage certificates (if applicable)
Legal name change or legal adoption documents (if applicable)
Passports will not be accepted in lieu of birth certificate
An original notarized sworn affidavit referring to documents specifically may also be provided to accompany photocopy of
document
Original/Certified documents are also accepted however, documents will not be returned
Please send via courier service NOTARIZED COPIES (with the valid notary’s original INK signature & stamp) of the required
documents for both the bride and groom at least 60 DAYS prior to the arrival date. Penalty fees will apply if sent with less
than 60 days prior to arrival at the resort.
All Documents for both bride & groom must be submitted with a completed Wedding Information Form, which is attached, or
you may download from our website www.sandals.com .
All required documents are due 60 days prior to travel for ALL islands.
A legal translator must translate all documents in a foreign language to English. Both Notarized versions must be submitted.
A late fee of US$150 will apply for all documents received within 21 days prior to the arrival date
Wedding and ReTie the Knot dates and times vary and are subject to public holidays and availability. Couples will only be
married at the resort in which they are booked.
Additional fees apply for Catholic and Jewish wedding ceremonies.
Restrictions may apply with availability of Marriage Officer/Justice of the Peace.
Setup/surcharges for additional guests above six apply and may vary by resort.
Couples must notify the Wedding Department of number of guests attending the wedding at least 30 days prior to the arrival
date.
Day passes apply for guests not staying at Sandals or Beaches.
ReTie the Knot Documentation & Requirements

Selected country’s residency period applies. Couples must fax a copy of the state issued marriage certificate to the Wedding
Department at (305) 668-2762 and hand carry the original to the resort.
Please note: Wedding Passes are intended for genuine guests and not third party providers of services. Use of third party vendors
for photography or other services that are offered by Sandals is strictly prohibited.
Passport Update: Effective January 23, 2007, the US Department of State and Homeland Security require all travelers to and from
the Americas, Caribbean, and Bermuda to have a Valid Passport. Non-US Citizens should contact the airline regarding the specific
entry requirements that apply to their nationality.

Wedding. Your Style. Your wedding photography session will include four (4) consecutive hours, and if you’d like more time, you can purchase

The Vintage package is edited in an
artistic way and incorporates old
Jamaican and Caribbean music and is
also edited in chronological order
but is portraying a more nostalgic
view of the Caribbean.
Traditional
This is the traditional form of a
wedding video as everyone knows it.
It is edited in chronological order
and follows the string of events with
music added where fitting.
Contemporary
This is a modern form of a wedding
video with little audio. Only key audio is
being used as well as key background
noise. The video is edited according to
the music that was picked by the bride
and groom. It is edited along the lines

What are the wedding sites on property?
Most of our resorts offer a beach, a garden and a gazebo location. The location is chosen at the time of your onresort consultation.
What flavors are available for the wedding cake?
You have a choice of vanilla, chocolate or Caribbean fruit.
When will I receive my marriage certificate?
Your marriage certificate will be sent via air courier 6-8 weeks after your wedding.
What is the best way to travel with a wedding dress?
Any arrangement for transportation of a wedding dress should be discussed directly with your airline carrier.
Is there Tuxedo rental available in the island?
Unfortunately, we do not offer tuxedo rentals on resort; however some resorts have contact information for local
formalwear providers (varies by island). Keep in mind, due to the Caribbean climates, you may want to consider a light
weight alternative for the groom.
Who will assist me with my wedding once I arrive?
The Resort Wedding Team will be anxious to meet you and will be instrumental in making your dream day a reality.
When do I finalize my wedding details?
Details should be finalized 60 days prior to arrival; your Wedding Planner will guide you through this process.
Is my wedding legal in the country where I reside?
Yes, the marriage is a legally binding marriage. You should inquire with your local government regarding name change
procedures, etc.
Can I get married at a different resort than where I am staying?
No, you must get married at the resort where you are staying.
Is there a fee for the use of a personal wedding planner?
No, at Sandals Resorts, every bride and groom have their own personal pre-wedding and resort wedding planners as part of
the complimentary WeddingMoon® inclusions.
What are the different types of ceremonies I can choose from for my wedding?
A non-denominational minister customarily presides over our wedding ceremonies, but if you wish to inquire about having a
non-religious ceremony (justice of the peace) or a religious ceremony at an additional cost, please talk to your wedding
planner.
Are there any special inclusions for weddings with a group of rooms?
Sandals offers a number of exclusive inclusions for Wedding parties that have 5 rooms or more.
Can I bring down my own wedding décor items and favors?
We would not recommend this as there are custom laws that will require you to pay taxes and duties on these items or they
might be confiscated if they are deemed as commercial items. If you decide to take items down with you please note that
there is an applicable set up fee. Please speak with your wedding planner for full details.
Are medical/or blood test required to get married?
No, the island of Jamaica does not require a medical or blood test.
