SIBAYA CASINO AUTOCROSS
On Saturday evening Jeeva and I were
discussing this Global Warming issue and how the weather
patterns had changed and were playing havoc with our events calendar!
The weather guru must have been listening as whilst Sunday started out dreary and drizzling the sun
eventually poked out its face and we had a glorious day.
Seventeen drivers took part in the event and numerous club members spectated and supported – the
common excuse for spectating being driveplan issues.
The scribe was too busy running around ensuring drivers were ready for their run , as we had the usual
time curfew , to take too much note of who did what but the usual suspects did not disappoint.
SOME POINTS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION:
1. Tania was so keen to ensure she beat Graham that she forgot to count her laps and ended up with
one run being incorrect.
2. Mason did the same in his newly acquired 996 GT3 RS. At one point the vehicle nearly taught him
who is boss!
3. Mo has been named the kerb and hooter king as he used both rather well during his runs.
4. Willie de Beer will be organising the next club braai after his impersonation of “Smokey”
5. Rajen Pillay almost lost it on one of his runs and Richard (in true Shakespearian English) was heard
saying that “he nearly scared the cr@p out of that tree”.
6. Mahan had a forearm workout as his power steering was not functioning properly.
7. Anwar arrived shortly after the track was set up. Rumour has it he was parked outside and peeking
through the bush to see when all the manual labour was done!
8. Velde is looking for a third turbo for his GT2 as he was again whipped by all and sundry.
A BIG THANK YOU HAS TO GO OUT TO THE FOLLOWING:
Richard Naidoo from Clints Panel and Paint for their kind sponsorship and for attending the event.
Jeeva Moodley and Dale Gove for their behind the scenes work ensuring that everything was in place
on the day.
Justin Butler for running the timing equipment.
Richard Vaughan (MSA COC for the day) for his friendly assistance.
The event and prize-giving was over by around 12h15 - all in all an enjoyable day in the sun playing
with our cars.
Some members met at a local restaurant for a quick bite to eat and rumour has it that the last member
left at around 19h30.
