Working hard during rest hours and free time, each senior kampong put together a funny skit related to Waldemar and designed silly costumes for the entire camp to see. Taking the stage, the amazing skits cause not just campers, but counselors too, to laugh their heads off. The judges were forced to pick four out of the many great skits The Waldemar War Whoop to go on the fun trip to Mo Ranch. While selecting the winners, side acts such as “The Ew Show”, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”, Grayson R, Tyler R, and Sarah R performed. There was never a dull moment with all the thrilling skits and the wonderful acts in between. “ E v e r y o n e w a s s o f u n n y,” Caroline L, low senior Comanche, commented. The Tribute Vesper mentioned some of Waldemar’s many amazing women and the ideals we should follow. While we learned about s o m e o f Wa l d e m a r ’s h i s t o r y we started to appreciate Camp Waldemar a little bit more and recognize the beauty of the spirit here. Flickering candles created a warm glow as the spirit of Waldemar filled our hearts during this beautiful tribute vesper. By Landon W the dance, Summer Singers shirts have been proudly worn all across the camp in a bright, sky blue or a bold, carroty orange color. This night is a night for all ages. With hit songs playing such as “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift and “Love Is an Open Door” from Frozen, everyone was certain to hear something they enjoy. Waldemar makes sure that every evening program is stirring from start to finish. The girls get to have picnic style dinner where they sit Everyone knows that when summer comes around, new music come out. When new music comes out, girls learn every word to every song (and if there’s a dance, they learn that too). So what better way to celebrate summer than with a live concert put on by Summer Singers? This group is made up of seven Oklahoma Christian University students that perform a mixture of country, pop, and rock music for all ages. They share their love of music with their love for God. The whole camp gathered in Ora Johnson Amphitheater anticipating the first song on Saturday evening. While most of the girls crowded the stage, there was also a line that stretched across the lawn, where girls waited patiently for their free shirt. Ever since and counselors gathered around on the steps for good conversation. It is such a blessing to see every camper with a beautiful, genuine smile stretched across her face during with other friends from other tables, and catch up on all things camp. The casual atmosphere sets the scene for the splendid concert ahead. The singers are lively and passionate about what they do, which is demonstrated in how they interact with the campers during the concert. Camper Kate R got resourceful with a sign that read: “Bring me on stage my name is Kate,” and it worked. Kate was called on stage a few songs into the show and was asked to pump up the crowd and dance along with the band. If you know Kate, this was right up her alley. Even if you aren’t a huge concert fanatic, fun is still to be had! Friends evening program. These girls deserve to enjoy summer and the freedom it brings, and we are fortunate to have such an entertaining concert each term that they can look forward to. Grace B 10 Sunday, July 26, 2015 The Adventures of Gus and Louie By Cameron T Find out what some of the most well known dogs in camp are up to. One day, Gus and Louie were doing their usual routine; Louie sat wth Marsha in her golf cart while Gus chased after them. Marsha finally stopped at the archery range and got out to watch the campers. Gus and Louie were deathly afraid of the archery range, so they started to explore. They found a trail they had never seen before and started to walk down it. Suddenly, a net fell on Gus and Louie. They struggled and strained, twisted and turned, but they couldn’t get out of the net. Finally, they laid down, exhausted from their escape attempts. As they started to go to sleep, Louie heard a soft cackle in the bush a few feet away, so he nudged Gus awake. Alert now, they watched a cat creep towards them.“Well, well, well, look what I caught. The two most famous Waldemar dogs,” said the one and only black cat of Mystic. “What in the world are you doing in my trap?” “Why are you doing this!” Asked Gus. “Why?” She chuckled. “Only so I can hold you two as ransom, telling Marsha the only way she’ll get her beloved pets back is if she gives the Waldemar property to Mystic.” She laughed. “Well, I’ll just be writing a ransom note, bye!” She sauntered off into the brush. “Oh no!” Said Louie. “What are we going to do?” “Don’t worry.” Gus murmured. They heard footsteps. They were afraid the black cat was coming back when suddenly Blue Jeans appeared in front of them. “Do you need help?” asked Blue Jeans. They nodded, and quickly got out of the net. They scurried away before the black cat had a chance to come back. Gus and Louie heard Marsha whistling and ran back to her. They hopped in the golf cart happily and drove away, as if nothing ever happened. Led by pitchers Joyce J and Caroline K, the Retreads proved to come out the strongest team once again! New counselors Jessica A and Krystal D did a great job pitching for the Rookies and all counselors did a wonderful job hitting the ball. (I guess all of the Rookies will have to return for another summer to join the winning Retread Team next year!) After the game, over 20 counselors ran and jumped into the river, another counselor tradition. Great job out there Buzzards!
