Dear Fellow Colleagues,
On behalf of the Emirates Orthopaedic Society Board of the Emirates Medical Association, it is a great honor and privilege to welcome you in Dubai, The United Arab
Emirates for the “3rd Emirates International Orthopaedic Congress”, April 30th to
May 2nd, 2015.
Hence the tremendous enthusiasm for welcoming Orthopaedic Surgeons and Emirates Orthopaedic Society, Emirates Medical Association members, we are fortunate
to have an outstanding group of high profile speakers covering a range of exciting
topics within Orthopaedic and related fields and attracting a high number of delegates
who are sure to benefit from the latest research and up-to-date information on offer.
The congress includes different methods such as comprehensive informative learning, panel discussions, and workshops in addition to industry symposia in order to provide an educational program that allows professionals from
academia and industry to be updated with the latest researches and rapid developments occurring in the field.

CME Accreditation:
This Conference is CME accredited, 18 CME Hours from The
Ministry oh Health - UAE.
CME Certificates will be obtained starting May 13th, 2015,
through the Congress website: www.uaeortho.com
Delegates should log in using the registration number on your
delegate badge. The deadline to receive the Certificates is July
19th, 2015.
Delegates are required to scan their badges on every entry/exit
to any of the congress halls.
Food & Beverage:
Coffee breaks will be open to registered delegates.
Meals will be offered against daily vouchers provided with the
delegate badges.
Hotel information:
The hotel also offers a variety of all-day dining restaurants to
choose from.
There is an ATM machine conveniently located in the hotel inbetween the InterContinental Hotel and the Congress venue.
There are several banks and ATM machines located in the
shopping mall attached to the hotel.
The Congress venue is a non-smoking venue. Participants are
requested to visit designated smoking corners when smoking
is desired.

mode while in the conference rooms.
Parking: Complimentary valet parking is extended by the hotel.

in Orthopedic, working primarily as a Knee Surgeon. Prior to joining SKMC, Dr Al Hammadi worked at Chelsea
& Westminster Hospital in London, primarily doing Orthopedic Knee Surgery. Dr Al Hammadi also worked in

Dr Ahmed Al Jahwari is a senior consultant orthopedic and spine surgeon, chief of Spine Service at the Armed
Forces Hospital in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. He is a senior lecturer at the Sultan Qaboos University. He is
also Program Director of the Orthopedics Residency Program at the Oman Medical Specialties Board (OMSB)
He is a fellow of the Royal College of surgeons of Canada.
He earned his medical degree from the Sultan Qaboos University in Oman. He completed his orthopedic residency training at the University of Toronto. He then did his advanced training and clinical fellowship in spine

techniques. He has authored over 150 scientific presentations, scientific meeting abstracts, peer-reviewed research papers, book chapters,

Butcher Christopher
Chris Butcher graduated from University College and Middlesex Hospital London in 1989, and completed his
early surgical training in London. He then participated in two orthopaedic training schemes; in Cape Town and
Bristol, UK. He did a knee fellowship in Gloucester, UK and a fellowship in the Lower Limb Reconstruction Unit
in Bristol University. His research topic for his Master of Surgery thesis was on treatment of fractures around
the knee. He was appointed as an NHS Consultant Orthopaedic and Knee Surgeon at Gloucester and Cheltenham Hospitals, a post he held for nine years.
Dr Butcher is now a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with the Abu Dhabi Knee and Sports Medicine Centre at Healthpoint, Abu Dhabi where

Cannon Leslie
Dr Cannon is a UK trained consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon. He is English and studied medicine in
London qualifying in 1991. He underwent a general surgical training obtaining the FRCS in 1997 before starting
higher training in orthopaedic surgery.
Dr Cannon underwent specialist foot and ankle training in Oxford (UK) and Sydney (Australia) before being appointed as a consultant in 2004. He spent 10 years working at Portsmouth NHS Trust on the south coast of
England before his appointment to Mafraq in 2013. He is the Chair of Orthopaedics.
Dr Cannon's main research field is into the mechanics of trauma. He has numerous publications on trauma and foot/ankle topics.
Dr Cannon specialises in the management of complex lower limb trauma with his main specialty being the management of foot and ankle

Mr Philip Chapman-Sheath is a Consultant Knee Surgeon based at the University Hospital Southampton, Spire

Christel Pascal
Professor Pascal Christel is a former professor at Paris Didier Diderot University. For more than 30 years his
activity is focused on sports and knee surgery. In France he was a pioneer in arthroscopy and performed his
first case in 1980. Since then he has perform more than 10,000 Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and other ligaments reconstructions. He has trained many residents and fellows and is a member of most of the prestigious
international orthopedics, sports medicine and arthroscopy societies. He was also a pioneer in the field of double-bundle ACL reconstruction and is one of the fathers of the first double bundle instrumentation which has
been available on the market. His practice is not limited to knee surgery but also covers all the other fields of
sports injuries and orthopedics. He is a reviewer for the main international sports medicine journals and a former board member of several
French and European societies. For years he has organized and chaired many international surgical meetings. He has produced numerous
peer review articles and book chapters and currently has around 100 papers listed by PubMed.
Dahl Benny
Benny Dahl is an orthopaedic surgeon who has 20 years experience in spine surgery. In 2007 he was appointed
the first full clinical professor in spine surgery at the University of Copenhagen and since 2010 he has contributed
to the establishment of the first combined spine unit in Denmark with both orthopaedic surgeons and neurosurgeons serving half of Denmark with highly specialized spine surgery. Benny Dahl is an active member of the
SRS and was local host of the IMAST meeting in 2011 in Copenhagen. He has served as a member of the program committee at IMAST2012 and 2013 and currently serves as a member of the SRS-program committee.
He holds a Ph.D. in basic science focusing on osteoblast metabolism and a doctoral thesis on inflammatory response after severe trauma and spine surgery. His current scientific activity is concentrated on various aspects of spinal deformity and spinal

Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr McAuliffe completed his orthopaedic training in Queensland in 2004. He undertook post fellowship training
at the Adidas Sports Medicine Centre in Auckland focussing on sports and arthroplasty knee surgery. In 2005
he worked as the Deputy Director of Orthopaedics at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He was the
Director of Orthopaedics at the Ipswich General Hospital for 4 years from 2006 - 2010. Dr McAuliffe is a Visiting
Medical Officer at both Ipswich General Hospital and St Andrew’s Ipswich Private HospitaI.
Dr McAuliffe is a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, The Australian Knee Society, The American Hip and Knee Association

Menon Krishnankutty
Dr. K Venugopal Menon graduated from the Armed Forces Medical College in India in 1979. After a 5 year stint
in the Indian Army Medical Corps he took his Masters in Orthopaedic Surgery from the same institution. During
this period he had the opportunity to train in the reputed Spine center at Military Hospital, Kirkee, Pune. He subsequently underwent training in the UK and took the MCh degree from Liverpool University in 1992. Dr Menon
underwent the AO fellowship in Zurich University Hospital and also spent time at many premier Spine Centers
in Europe including Edinburgh (Princess Margaret Rose hospital), St Gallen (Canton Hospital), Berck Sur Mer
(Institut Calot) before he returned to India. He also holds a Masters degree in Orthopaedic Engineering from
Cardiff University, UK.
Dr Menon was till recently Chairman and Head of the Dept., & Clinical Professor at the Department of Orthopaedics and Consultant in Spine
Surgery at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center, Kochi, India. He has recently joined Khoula Hospital under the Ministry
of Health where he is Sr. Consultant in Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery. He is also the immediate Past Chairman of AOSpine Asia-Pacific.

I received my initial training with Albert TRILLAT and being a former pupil of Henri DEJOUR, it was quite natural
that in 1988 I devoted my activity on knee surgery.
I was nominated Professor First Class at the University of Lyon in 1994 and head of the department at the Croix
Rousse Hospital in 1996.
My main activity is clinical. I treat an equal number of sports lesions and degenerative pathologies of the knee.
The many publications, books, CD-Roms reflect this clinical research activity. For my work on the results after
meniscectomy, I received the “John Joyce Award” by International Arthroscopy in 1989.
In 1995, I participated in the ESSKA-AOSSM “Traveling Fellowship”.
In 2002-2004, 2008, 2010 and 2012, I was involved in the organization of the “Journées de Chirurgie du genou” devoted to the athlete’’
knee or/and prosthesis knee.
As a professor, I am responsible for four academic formations in France: knee pathology, arthroscopy, sports medicine and rugby.
I am member of several medical societies and I am an active participant in the SOFCOT, ESSKA 2000, and EFORT as member at large and
