St. Margaret Mary Mustang News Vol. 11 November 7, 2014 Mission Statement...St. Margaret Mary Catholic School is a vital part of the educational ministry of the parish. In partnership with parents, we are committed to nurturing the uniqueness of each student as we provide a quality education program. We strive to prepare our students to become moral, responsible, and self motivated members of their church and community. News from the Principal Dear Families, This has been a tough week for us. However, we know the truth about St. Margaret Mary School. We are the truth! This is a school filled with compassionate disciples of Christ. This is a school where excellence and magic happen each day. Please help me to heal this community by moving forward in unity and forgiveness. Mother Teresa’s Prayer People are often unreasonable, irrational, and selfcentered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway. May God Bless You and Your Family, Wendy Sims Congratulations SMM Teachers The following SMM teachers were honored at a recognition luncheon on Thursday, November 6 for their years of teaching in the Archdiocese of Louisville: Debbie Zangari 30 years Chris Bowles 20 years Brenda Harrison 20 years Charlotte Colley 20 years Cathy Rueff 15 years Angie Moth 10 years Susan Delk 10 years Thank you for your dedication and wonderful service to our students and school! St. Margaret Mary Athletes Suggestion for a Team-Building Project from your Play Like A Champion Today committee This November, as we take time to give thanks for our many blessings in our life, it is important to also look for ways to share those blessings and give to others. It is also the start of our winter sports season, so as SMM athletes, there are numerous opportunities to give thanks. The opportunity for service is one of the most valuable aspects of being part of a team that is committed to growing together and serving as a community. Serving with others builds community, a sense of gratitude and is a direct expression of our Christian values. What are some ways that a child’s team can serve others? Perhaps someone on the team has a close personal relationship with a charity that the team members could support together. It’s an opportunity for him/her to truly take a cause he/she cares about to the next level. It allows a student to take on new responsibilities and bond with his/her new winter sports’ team. Together, the students can work to create a Team of Champions. Raffle Ticket Selling PRIZES Permission forms will be sent home on Friday, November 7 for children who sold over 200 raffle tickets. There are almost 70 sixth-grade students who are involved in this production that is a fun twist on the original story of Pinocchio…. the difference is that it is told from the perspective of Geppetto, Pinocchio’s father. As Pinocchio is learning lessons about how to be a good son, Geppetto is learning about what it takes to make a good father. The music is composed by Stephen Schwartz, whom you might know from a few well-known musicals like Wicked, Godspell, and Pippin. The music is truly beautiful. If you have questions or difficulty with the website to purchase tickets, please contact Mrs. Moth via email at [email protected].
