CIC AND THE CELPIP-GENERAL TEST Applicants for immigration to Canada under the Federal Skilled Workers and Professionals Class (FSW) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) are required to provide the results of a language proficiency test in either English or French. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has designated the CELPIP-General Test as evidence of English language proficiency. Immigration applicants can fulfill their language requirements and obtain up to 16 immigration points by taking the CELPIP-General Test and submitting the results to CIC.
