Go through the garden of Dominicans on the right,
then after the court, go on the left “Rue St Michel”
crossing it. Turn on the right after the bridge; you
are behind “Hotel de Monptensier” the library in
front of the public garden. You are back at the Tourist Office
Departure
Starting point: Tourist Office. Go on the
left and cross the bridge “Le Pont des
chaînes” , turn on your right and walk
along the Touques River, famous for
sea trout.
Pass through the garden of the presbytery, near the restaurant “Auberge de la
Touques” and have a look at the Saint
Michel’s church.
Go up “Rue de la Vicomté”
You will discover the old
prison named “The happy
prison”. It was built at the
beginning of the 19th century by Harou Romain, he

secured prison for prisoners.

l’Aigle d’Or”, built in 1520. The house was an Inn
for travellers.
Take again the direction of “Rue de Vaucelles”, a
square with old timbered houses from the 16th and
17th century. The square was restored in 1995.
The facades were painted according to the colours
of the Middle-ages.
In front of you the structure is the
ancient convents of Dominicans
become the cultural centre of the
city. It is one of the most beautiful
half timbered houses in the City.

17th century. Upstairs, there is a
wonderful corbelled gallery and
beautiful carved posts.

building named “Hotel de Brilly”.

bridge; turn on the right in direction of the court. On the right, you
can see the “Hôtel de Montpensier”

Pont-l’Evêque coat of arms: 2 Oxen
and 3 Lily flowers.
