Alumni Ties @ Rutgers Preparatory School Rutgers Rutgers Preparatory Preparatory School School From the Desk of the Headmaster In the opening lines of Frank Sperduto’s A History of Rutgers Preparatory School, he states that “when Governor William Franklin granted a charter in 1766 to establish a college in New Jersey, a long and complex struggle ensued before Queen’s College opened its doors in New Brunswick. In that struggle Rutgers Preparatory School was founded…..” We are rapidly approaching the 250th anniversary of that founding, and it seems as though, as the current commercial suggests, we are “traveling at the speed of life.” Part of this speed is the manner in which we can share information with our alumni, and it is a pleasure to invite you to view the various articles included in this edition of ALUMNI TIES. • Steven Loy The Impact of Service Our students are accustomed to participating in community service. As they go on to college, many continue and expand on the concept of giving of themselves to help others. Kaitlin Torrenzano ’03 has shared her experiences of her missions to Mexico and Peru.
