active contributors, have put together a marvellous and indeed stimulating scientific program
which should leave nothing to be desired. the educational program with its ABC Master Class
courses and theme oriented educational courses together with presentations of the most recent
scientific data and knowledge in Sexual Medicine will be presented in state of the art lectures,
round tables and poster sessions providing recent research and showcasing the fascinating achievements made in Sexual Medicine. Leading experts in the field, along with up and coming scientists and researchers, will share with you their recently gained knowledge and techniques that will
benefit you in your own clinical practices.
ESSM continues in Amsterdam with its long-standing tradition to accentuate education in Sexual
Medicine with dedicated sessions both for newcomers ("greenhorns") and any others who would
like to refresh and update their knowledge in the field. the ESSM family is sure that the scientific
program of this 15th annual congress will both fascinate and inspire you and will expand your
knowledge in the field of Sexual Medicine.
Luca incrocci
Amsterdam has provided the perfect backdrop for this scientific congress. it cultivates the feeling
of openness, free thinking and is a multicultural hot spot. it is a city that has a abundance to offer
during conference breaks and we are delighted to be here. it is an enchanting time to be in Amsterdam in the run up to the holiday season. Even the red Light district has Christmas lights of its
own (not just red ones!) and seems to never shut down. With all its sparkling lights, craft-making
markets, cosy cafes, unique shops, and “oliebollen” (the incredible fried dough balls) stands it is
hoped that you not only take away an abundance of scientific knowledge but also an abundance
of holiday cheer.
Welcome to Amsterdam 2012 for a memorable, and as always, unforgettable ESSM event!

General Information
Discover the City of Amsterdam
Amsterdam is the capital and largest city of the Netherlands,
with an urban population of 747,290 and a metropolitan population of 2,158,592. The city is in the province of North
Holland in the west of the country. It comprises the northern
part of the Randstad, the sixth-largest metropolitan area in
Europe, with a population of approximately 8.1 million according to larger estimates.
the Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum, Hermitage Am
sterdam, Anne Frank House, its red-light district, and its many
cannabis coffee shops draw more than 3.66 million international visitors annually.
The Amsterdam RAI Exhibition & Convention Centre is conveniently located just south of the city centre. It benefits from
excellent access by road and the efficient Dutch public transport system. It is within a few minutes of the city centre, and
less than eight minutes from Schiphol airport, one of Europe’s
busiest and best airports. Amsterdam RAI is easy to reach by
car or public transport and has ample parking facilities inside
and outside the venue.
Its name is derived from Amstelredamme, indicative of the
city's origin: A dam in the river Amstel. Settled as a small
fishing village in the late 12th century, Amsterdam became
one of the most important ports in the world during the Dutch
Golden Age, a result of its innovative developments in trade.
During that time, the city was the leading centre for finance
and diamonds. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the city expanded, and many new neighbourhoods and suburbs were
formed. The 17th-century canals of Amsterdam (in Dutch:
'Grachtengordel'), located in the heart of Amsterdam, were
added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2010.
The city is the financial and cultural capital of the Netherlands.
Many large Dutch institutions have their headquarters there,
and 7 of the world's top 500 companies are based in the city.
The Amsterdam Stock Exchange, the oldest stock exchange
in the world, is located in the city centre. Amsterdam's main
attractions, including its historic canals, the Rijksmuseum,

A Personal Invitation from the ESSM President
Gospel Concert
GOSPEL CONCERT
Friday, 7 December 2012 I 20.00 – 21.00 h
Noorderkerk, Amsterdam
The church was built in the years 1620–1623 to serve
the rapidly growing population of the new Jordaan
neighborhood. The architect was Hendrick de Keyser.
After de Keyser's death in 1621, his son Pieter de
Keyser took over and oversaw the completion.
The Noorderkerk has a symmetrical, cross-shaped
layout, reflecting the ideals of the Renaissance and
protestantism. De Keyser's unique design combines
an octagonal floor plan with a structure shaped like
a Greek cross, with four arms of equal length. Annex
buildings occupy each corner of the cross, and a small
tower sits in the centre of the cross. Large Tuscan
pillars dominate the church interior.
The church was restored in the period 1993–1998
and is still used for Dutch Reformed Church services
and for concerts.
Location: Noorderkerk along Prinsengracht canal at
Noordermarkt square.

Structure of the Scientific Program
Structure of the Scientific Program
Structure of the Abstract Book
The scientific program is structured according to days. Per
day it is structured by time and room. All presenters are
listed by name and the title of their presentation.
The abstract book is structured by session format. The listing
starts with the podium session followed by the highlighted
poster sessions. Hereafter the poster presentations are grouped in male and female sexual health.
Master Lectures
Podium Sessions
Each 30 minutes lecture will be given by a distinguished and
renowned expert and will be devoted to a specific topic of
major interest.
Podium sessions will present the best abstracts accepted for
the congress by the Scientific Committee and will focus on
their specific topics presenting the very latest findings in this
field. The sessions will last 30 to 90 minutes. Presentations
are limited to 4 minutes followed by 2 minutes of discussion.
Round Tables
These sessions will usually last 60 to 90 minutes. They will
focus on a particular topic and present the very latest data
related to it. The round table will include a maximum of four
papers and time for discussion.
Highlighted Poster Tours
Authors were invited to submit abstracts on their latest research findings or important ongoing research. The highlighted poster tours were selected by the Scientific Committee
based on a review of all abstract submissions. The most interesting posters are grouped by topic and presented in a
30-minute moderated tour. Each presenter has 1 minute for
the presentation followed by 2 minutes for discussion. Each
tour will consist of a maximum of 7 posters in the same general field and will take place during the coffee breaks on
Friday and Saturday.
