Things to See and Do on Maui
Maui offers many historical sites that remain well kept secrets. Visit the Hale Kohola Whale Museum at Whalers Village to learn
about whales and Lahaina's whaling history. Exhibits here range from the skeleton of a sperm whale to an authentic, fully outfitted
whale boat.
Journey into Haleakala National Park and Haleakala Crater, an area that has been carefully preserved. With its cool, cone-studded
reminder of a once active volcano, the park mystifies the traveler with cascading streams and quiet pools, silver plants and scarlet
birds. Cross Haleakala's lunar landscape on a hiking tour or on horseback with local guides and discover why it is called the “House
of the Sun.”
Ride the 1890s-vintage Lahaina - Kaanapali & Pacific Railroad, aka the “Sugarcane Train,” which once shuttled sugar between
Kaanapali and Lahaina. Celebrate the spirit of aloha in traditional Hawaiian style at an Old Lahaina Luau. As the sun sets, enjoy an
authentic Hawaiian feast along with live music and dancing. Another popular attraction is the picturesque Iao Needle, which is a
unique geological formation. Enjoy a picnic lunch (barbecues available) at Kepaniwai Park. This park showcases Hawaii's cultural
diversities and unique history. Venture into Upcountry Maui where you can take in the many antique shops, restaurants, ranches and
farms featuring spectacular views. While there, tour the Tedeschi Vineyards and Winery for a taste of Hawaiian wine country.
Immerse yourself in the island's beautiful waters. Snorkelers and scuba divers of all levels will enjoy spectacular marine species
found only in Hawaiian waters. Ask our activity desk about snorkel, scuba and whale watching tours to Molokini. Don't want to get
wet? Then explore the Maui Ocean Center at Maalaea Harbor. Here you'll get an intimate look at the underwater world, coming face
to face with some of Hawaii's most spectacular and indigenous animals. Walk through the 360 degree glass tunnel while 20 sharks,
stingrays and thousands of tropical reef fish swim around you. Afterward visit the gift shop, explore the interactive displays, get a quick
bite at the cafe or dine at the ocean-front restaurant at this world class Hawaiian aquarium.
One-day excursions to the nearby islands of Lanai and Molokai are a must, as Maui is the only island that offers you access to these
islands by boat. Lanai is covered with mist-shrouded forests, white-sand beaches and perfect solitude. Molokai has many quaint
villages, a country atmosphere and soaring sea cliffs. Many visitors delight in the mule ride down to Kalaupapa Peninsula.
Back on Maui, be sure to take a swing at some of the island's world-renowned golf courses. Whether you're a beginner or a pro,
beautiful birds, glorious greens, towering palms, tropical flowers and panoramic views of the blue Pacific will create a memorable golf
setting. Another way to enjoy Maui's spectacular scenery is to take a trip to the 23,000-acre Maui Tropical Pineapple Plantation
only 12-miles from Kihei. This peaceful location is a wonderful place to enjoy tropical fruits grown right on the plantation. Hop on the
tram and take a guided tour. Explore the many gardens, eat at the restaurant or get adventurous on the Zip-Line. Aloha!
