This colt has been broken in and has commenced his second preparation in
our Warwick Farm stable. We like this colt and he has done everything right.
Bjorn loves the progeny of O’Reilly, having had success with is stock including
the likes of Burbero, a winner of the Group 2 Missile Stakes and the Group 2
Ajax Stakes with earnings of $700,000 and Celtic Prince, runner up in the
Group 1 Auckland Cup who has earned $260,000 in prizemoney to date.
O’Reilly
A Group 1 winner of the Bayer Classic, O’Reilly has been crowned Champion
New Zealand Sire four times and producing 82 Stakes winners. Group 1
winning progeny of O’Reilly include Silent Achiever, Shamrocker, Alamosa,
The Jewel, Final Destination, O’Marilyn, Sacred Falls, Mac O’Reilly, Guyno,
Swick, Master O’Reilly and Shamexpress.
O’Reilly has been such a success at stud as he gets not only stayers, but also
sprinters, producing Group 1 winners at 2, over 1200m and right up to 2400m.
Fireside
A winner over 1400m and city placed, this mare hails from the family of New
Zealand Filly of the Year Vapour Trail, a winner of the Group 1 New Zealand
Oaks and a two time Group 2 winner. Also in family is the likes of Group 2
winner Santagostino and Listed winner Encosta Diablo – Jefferson Bay.
The Verdict
This colt is the first foal from the Thorn Park mare Fireside. He has good size
and strength and being by O’Reilly out of a 1400m winning mare, we can
expect him to get over a middle distance and beyond.
