n mid December, 2013, Google® posted a major update to move
Chrome® Apps to the desktop with their new Chrome App
Launcher tool. With this change, AIRS has deployed two brand
new apps for recruiters; AIRS Resume Search & AIRS Metasearch.

Login to a Google Account from the Chrome Browser to access both
of these AIRS Sourcing tools for free. The tools are both accessible
from the Chrome App Launcher desktop tool for Windows® and from
a new browser tab on MAC OSX®.
Once installed on Windows, both AIRS Apps appear from Google
Chrome App Launcher as shown.

Use the AIRS Resume Search app to source candidates quickly from
LinkedIn®, Indeed® and several other online resume sharing sites
like ResumeBucket. After clicking on any result, simply use the
“back” button from the browser to return to the search string.
The AIRS Metasearch tool can be used to search many different
search tools in one place all from a simple desktop shortcut.

Much like the AIRS Resume Search app, the Metasearch app will
also save a search string that can be accessed again using the
“back” navigation. Search string results can be viewed in Google,
Ask®, Exalead® and others.
The Wayback Machine option will allow users to view archived
versions of web pages and Acronymfinder will help locate acronyms
and synonyms to aid sourcers in more accurately targeting their
searches.

Mighty Text - Texting Tool to Synch
a Computer and a Phone
Texting has fast become a simple way of reaching out to candidates
both as a “cold text” and as confirmation communication. In fact,
more often candidates would prefer a text over a voicemail or even a
phone call. However, two of the most common complaints heard from
recruiters when discussing alternative communications like texting are:
1. One cannot save and document texts easily
2. Texting takes longer than typing an email
MightyText is a Chrome based browser extension that allows users to
sync an Android phone and a computer in order to type directly from
one’s computer, thus saving a significant amount of time and energy.

Joe’s Data – A Lead Generation Site for Recruiters
Lead generation sites are certainly valuable tools for both sourcers and recruiters. While the majority
of these have pricing plans, a creative sourcer is able to take the limited free information and use it to
generate more contact information.
There is a lead generation site called www.Joesdata.com that provides just enough clues for sourcers and
recruiters to harvest more free information.
According to the website, their database
includes over two million company lists
as well as over 150 industries that are
searchable by industry and size. The site also
claims to have over four million executives
and fifty percent emails that are searchable
by function or size.
A great place to start any search from the
Joe’s Data site is on the Company Lists tab.
Companies are categorized into industries
and further refinement will provide a number
of companies within a specific industry.
After choosing an industry, users are able to see lists of companies with general contact information.
Further searching into each
company provides names, locations,
job titles and telephone numbers for
individuals.
Another way to search the site is by
doing a simple XRay from Google.

This XRay search yields enough
results to start digging for more
information. When opening the first
result, Joe’s Data displays a contact
card, which provides clues to lead a sourcer to more information.
Users can then take the domain address for Acorn Paper Products and search for email formats at Google
using the wildcard modifier: “*@acorn-paper.com” email
The results from this search contain email addresses for people who work for Acorn-Paper. Clues such as
email formats give both sourcers and recruiters a way to piece together the names and titles found on Joe’s
Data and further research to find the contact information needed to reach the candidate.
