BPO Barranquilla, Potencial y Oportunidades NEW ERA IN THE STATE OF ATLANTICO Training Initiatives to the Productive Industries • The Secretary of Education of the Mayor’s Office created the “Universidad a tu Barrio” project, which provides opportunities to low income young people to study higher education carreers. • The Higher Education Centers – CEDIES (Spanish abbreviation) objective is to guarantee the progressive training of 10,000 young students every year who are finishising their high school period. The courses are flexible, and for free. • The CEDIES are established in 23 high schools venues, and carreers related to technology, port logistics, tourism, accounting and/or business areas, are included in this program. Avanza has a total of 80 jobs, and the company has a projection of a total of 160 jobs during 2013. They developed an extension of its plant, where they will execute the lamination and galvanization process. Also, they will offer a service center for boilers, furnaces and compressors. Country: Japan American company dedicated to delivering BPO services. Sykes has an establishment project of a Single Enterprise Free Trade Zone in Barranquilla. This project will create over 1.000 jobs and is projected to start on 2013.
