Queensland and Australia. We
have a great club history with
many National Champions and
International representatives.
The Women’s program at Gold
Coast Gymnastics Club takes
pride in producing quality
gymnastics & achieving great
results.
WG STAR’S TESTING – FEBRUARY 2015
In February our WG gymnasts all participated in Star’s testing where they were tested on
their strength, flexibility and skill level.
Each term our gymnasts will be retested to compare results and their progress
throughout the year. I would like to congratulate the following WG gymnasts who
achieved the highest results in their level this term.
Numerous WG senior
international gymnasts were
first identified and trained at
Gold Coast Gymnastics Club
including Commonwealth
Games dual Gold medallist
Hollie Dykes, Heidi Piccardi,
Kylie Tanner, Hayley Wright,
Jasmine Webb, Stephanie
Waters, Kayla Winch & Georgia
Godwin.
Gold Coast Gymnastics Club
Women’s program has also had
success in the Levels stream
with numerous gymnasts
qualifying to represent QLD at
National Championships &
contributing to QLD team gold
medals.
Our current group of WG
gymnasts are extremely
talented & are working their
way up to also represent QLD in
the future.
PFG FUNDRAISING 2015
This year our PFG will be focusing their fundraising activities towards MG and WG National
Clubs. Throughout the next 6 months PFG will be allocating numerous club BBQ’s, chocolate
drives and raffles towards this event. We encourage all parents to get behind the PFG to
ensure we can raise enough funds to help individuals traveling to Nationals Clubs this year!
Gold Coast Gymnastics Club
currently has a great team of
WG coaches who are dedicated
in moving the club forward &
maintaining the quality &
competitiveness we are well
known for at Gold Coast.

WG LEVEL 7-10 STATE SQUAD 2015
Congratulations to the following WG Level 7-10 gymnasts who were
selected to be part of the WG QLD State Squad team for 2015;
Amber Glancy, Tess Wheeler, Bella Henderson, Emma Whitehead,
Baylee Kovarik, Racheal Graham, Hannah Cottle, Chloe Togni and
Claira Lee-Joe.
DID YOU KNOW!
Did you know? Girls wear leotards when
training and competing. The leotard is named
after French acrobat Jules Leotard. He
performed the first flying trapeze act in 1859
while wearing a body-hugging costume.
These gymnasts attended their second State Squad training session
last Sunday 15th March 2015 at the HPC in Brisbane. The girls got to
work on their routines for the season alongside our QLD judges and
coaches within the state.
A WORD FROM OUR CAPTAINS…
HANNAH COTTLE – CLUB CAPTAIN:
“As we are now at the beginning of comp season and leading into States, it is important for us
senior gymnasts to stay healthy. This means taking care of your body and doing the little
things like icing and massaging where needed. Even if you’re not injured it is still a good idea
to do this for prevention. Make sure you’re training hard and putting in what you want to get
out of it. Lastly, be positive and support each other, we are a team and the stronger we are
the better!”
EMMA WHITEHEAD – VICE CAPTAIN:
“Hi, I’m Emma Whitehead your Club Vice Captain for 2015, I would like to encourage all
younger kids to come and support all level 7-10 gymnasts at competitions this year
especially Senior States. By coming to support the 7-10 gymnast you will be able to see
what it is like be at senior states and watch the huge skills the gymnast are doing. I
remember the time I went and supported the older girls at competition. I felt inspired to go
to senior states and do big skills like the seniors. I would love the younger gymnast to
experience what I experienced and come and watch us at senior states, one day you to will
be out on the competition floor at your first Senior States.”

WHAT HAVE OUR JUNIORS BEEN UP TO?
Throughout Term 1 our WG Level 2-6 girls have been working hard on skill development and learning their new routines for
2015.
CT4 – Jane’s WG Level 6 girls have been working hard this term on bars. The entire team can now fly away which is a
fantastic achievement. You can check out Skye White’s fly away on our WG Instagram page!
CT5 – Great job to Jake and Mel’s girls who have learnt many new skills this term. The girls are now performing some harder
acro skills on beam and their bar work is looking great, in particular blind changes.
WG Squad 1 – Luda’s girls have been working hard on their tumbling and learning their new compulsory routines.
WG Squad 2 & 3 - Great job to Kim’s girls who have been doing extremely well with their bar work this term. Special mention
to Brianna Toopi who looks to be nailing her long swings on the wooden bar. The girls are also working on their new Beam
and Floor routines which seem to be coming along well.
WG Squad 4 – Shannon’s girls are doing an excellent job this term on bars. The girl’s back hip circles are coming along well.
You can check out the girls long swings on wooden bar via our Instagram page.
WG Squad 6 & 7 – Brittany’s group are our juniors of the WG program. These girls have settling in well and look to be nailing
their basics this term – keep it up girls!
