Assemblyman Brian Curran is fighting for Lynbrook and our community. Over the last four years, we have: n Fought for record levels of school aid for Lynbrook schools, including an increase of $1,247,509 for Lynbrook public schools and a significant increase in state aid to non-public and private schools like Our Lady of Peace, each year for three years; n Secured $19,856 in library aid for the Lynbrook Public Library; n Honored veterans and women of distinction from the Lynbrook community; n Sponsored an Easter Basket Program for families in the Lynbrook Community; n Hosted Yellow Dot information workshops for Lynbrook seniors; n Hosted community outreach programs such as car seat safety checks for Lynbrook parents; n Visited and taught state government lessons to 4th Graders at Our Lady of Peace, West End, Marion Street, William Buck and St. Raymond’s Elementary; AND MORE! Joined the Girl Scout’s ELLM Association, grades four – eight, at their annual Bronze & Silver Awards ceremony as future role models. I saw some great young neighbors cross over from webelos to Boy Scouts at Lynbrook-based Cub Scout Pack #85’s Blue & Gold Celebration. Lynbrook Mayor William Hendrick, Senator Dean Skelos and I attended a farewell tribute to our good friend, Monsignor William Breslawski , who has been an amazing leader of Our Lady of Peace Parish for many years. Proud to induct Lynbrook’s own J. Leonard Goldstein, Vincent Boden and Francis Jay Korth into the New York State Veterans’ Hall of Honor. Their service to our nation ranging from the Caribbean during the Cuban Missile Crisis to the Korean War makes them outstanding patriots who put service and sacrifice above all else during tumultuous times in our nation’s history. Visited the 4th grade classes of Lynbrook and East Rockaway schools at Marion Street School, where I taught them about state government and how a bill becomes a law. Meeting with commuters on the MTA and LIRR and listening to their concerns. Jane Grogan and Barbara Barnhart are two residents who are always doing their part to make Lynbrook a better place. Was at the start of the 24th Lynbrook Expo at Greis Park and had a great time with friends and neighbors while the children enjoyed crafts, music, antiques, art and displays. Mention), Brandon Forman (second grade), Lily Ginsberg (second grade Hon. Mention), Jaiden Moreno (third grade), Nathan Santoli (third grade Hon. Mention), Marti Candel (fifth grade) and Natalia Leszczak (fifth grade Hon. Mention) of Waverly Park in Lynbrook; Ava Palazzola (second grade Hon. Mention) and Ambiya Hussain (fifth grade) of Marion Street in Lynbrook; Thomas Dunne (first grade) of Kindergarten Center in Lynbrook; Fourth graders Isabella DiGregorio, Ava DiSanto, Tiziana Colon, Kaitlyn Hall and Connor Connelly and fourth grade Hon. Mentions Dylan Grismer, Athena Gonzalez, Kathrine Hansen and Maya Eusebio of Our Lady of Peace in Lynbrook. Senator Dean Skelos and I were joined by village officials to welcome the new Lynbrook Fire Department ambulance, apparatus belonging to Emergency Medical Company #1, into service. Over 150 parents and children attended an exclusive viewing of Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” for kids with autism and other developmental disabilities at United Artists Lynbrook 6 Movie Theatre. Mayor Bill Hendrick, members of the Lynbrook Village Board and I joined with the Bernstein Family to dedicate a portion of Baylis Place across the street from Lynbrook South Middle School in memory of Zachary Bernstein, an 11-year-old boy who died of a brain tumor. At the Lynbrook Senior Center for a successful Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Yellow Dot program.
