The burgeoning mobile market continues to create new complexities for merchants, especially as consumers increasingly use mobile devices to shop and make payment, and loyalty and gifting capabilities continue to advance. PANEL: You’ll hear from the experts on the realities of EMV and the implications of U.S. migration, including: costs of implementation, how acquirers, merchants and ATM networks can work together to ease migration and the costs affiliated with not complying. THINK THANK: This workshop will include a targeted discussion to answer questions and detail cross-industry plans for integration. #EMVintegration Carolyn Balfany, Group Head, U.S. Product Delivery, MasterCard • Philip Andreae, Director, Field Marketing, Payment – North America, Oberthur Technologies • Philippe Benitez, VP of Business Development, Secure Transactions, GEMALTO PANEL: As mobile wallets continue to generate buzz, the rate of mobile payments adoption remains slow. As such, merchants today should be focused on providing consumers with a unified mobile experience that creates better value for them, such as one that delivers the most relevant offers including coupons, deals and time-sensitive offers to drive action. CASE STUDY: You’ll hear best practices for creating brand advocates through consistent and relevant experiences across all engagement and buying channels. Providing practical applications of loyalty and gifting designed to drive mobile payment adoption, they will explore different strategies merchants can adopt in order to successfully increase brand awareness, amplify consumer mindshare and engage with customers in real time. THINK TANK: The workshop will then break into discussion groups. #Mobile #Omnichannel Andy O’Dell, Co-Founder, CLUTCH • Retailers to be announced 12 p.m. RGCA & IGCC Joint Lunch & Meeting www.AllPaymentsExpo.com 9 Monday, March 3, 2014 • Day One General Session 1:00 4:30 Conference Kick-off The Innovation Code: Open APIs, the New Standard in Payment Collaboration and Creativity Exhibit Hall Opening 1:15 The Future of Interchange, and How Your Business Model Will Change In the wake of Reg. II’s new Durbin rules and the flood of new players looking to disintermediate the transaction flow, the payments industry is on the precipice of a major change in the way it monetizes transactions. What does a less interchange-dependent business model look like? We’ll look at the issue from different strategic angles, including processors who count those affected as their biggest clients, a card network that’s innovating to stay several steps ahead of the game and a new venture-backed player that’s building its own version of the payments rail to disintermediate the system. The advent of the Open API has opened the creative floodgates for in-app mash-ups, as well as becoming the new collaboration-centric business model for start-ups and incumbents alike. How can you approach this kind of technological integration? How can you scale? How do you get to market faster using this off-the-shelf access? We’ll get under the hood of this movement with a diverse group of players to look at a range of customer and use cases. Dan Schatt, former GM of Financial Innovation, PayPal • Sriram Subramanian, CEO, ShoppinPal • David Thompson, Executive Vice President Global Operations & Chief Information Officer, Western Union What is an Open API? Chris Larsen, CEO, Ripple Labs • Ed Labry, Vice Chairman, First Data • Fred Brothers, Executive Vice President, Chief Innovation Officer, FIS n API is an Application Programming Interface. It’s the lifeblood for the A next generation of app development that interconnects websites or applications in a user-friendly way. A payments provider can supply an Open API to other app developers to ease in-app payments, for example. Real-world example: If you’ve ever completed a Foursquare-enabled “check-in” using a non-Foursquare app, you’ve experienced an API. 5:00 2:00 Unchained Analytics: The New Lending Landscape, The Rise of Alternative Financial Services and the Redefining of the “Underbanked” As banks become more risk averse when evaluating DBA and lending customers, there’s been a flood of customers denied access to traditional banking services – leading to an influx of new companies looking to service the suddenly mainstream “under-served” customer. This new category is challenging banks but there are also partnerships to be brokered, often tapping into similar customer bases. We’ll look at how data is reshaping how risk is assessed, how collaboration between data-driven lending and payments could create new opportunities, the most attractive investments, as well as privacy-related issues that need to be tackled. Steve Ely, CEO, eCredable • Shawn Budde, CRO, ZestFinance • Arjan Schutte, Founder and Managing Partner, CORE Innovation Capital • Ken Rees, CEO, ThinkFinane The Mobile Environment: A Holistic Conversation Between Retailers and Consumers Chances are, any winning mobile innovation will have to be blessed by the merchant community to truly take off. Hear how leading retailer are approaching the mobile environment, and how they’re positioning their different mobile strategies for the future. We’ll look at how a diverse group of retailers are approaching the mobile space for e-commerce payments, the myriad wallet solutions, POS acceptance and ordering ahead. You’ll hear how mobile has become more than just a payment instrument, allowing merchants to see showrooming as an opportunity (not a threat); engaging with customers in real-time, developing VIP experiences and other evolutions of customer interaction. Here, we’ll dive into the emerging banking models and examine how these leading iconoclasts view the banking landscape, how traditional models have lost relevancy and try to uncover how banks and new entrants will coexist or potentially partner in this new future. With so much headline ink currently analyzing the state of electronic payroll cards, the industry will sit down for an open dialogue to clarify the most pressing issues. PANEL: More banks are looking toward prepaid as a way to divert the potentially less profitable debit business into a future-forward, aspirational product line. In days where consumers demand that banking be bundled with other services (such as one-stop wallets connected to shopping), banks are searching for product, wallet, loyalty and retail partners. This is further complicated when consumers desire single products that integrate deposit, payment, shopping and credit lines. We’ll look at how banks are thinking about leveraging payments and partnerships. PANEL: Panelists will shine some sunlight onto the sometimes-opaque payroll space, discussing the implications of overdraft protection and look at the possibilities of adding lines of credit in a format that’s win-win for both users and industry stakeholders. Plus: How will the FDIC rulings on payday loans impact the future of payroll programs? How can industry and consumer advocates work together to develop standards for transparent payroll programs? As banks move to develop proprietary wallets or leverage the strengths of their partners, we ask: What is the bank’s role in the ever-evolving landscape of mobile? What will be the role of partnerships in the wallet wars? Who is responsible for spear-heading retailer acceptance? Who are the unconventional players entering the mix, and do they pose any risks? And with so much consumer confusion, how can banks beef up consumer trust in the security of mobile payments?
