DEPARTMENT OF ADULT, CONTINUING EDUCATION&EXTENSION
1. Introduction:
The University Department of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension
was established in May 1979 under the sponsorship of University Grants Commission
(UGC) New Delhi. This is based on the recognition of the need for Extension of
knowledge and skills among its students and general public in addition to the two exiting
functions, via. Teaching and Research. The Extension activity has emerged as the third
important component of Higher Education and the department is functioning with the
following objective to promote extension in the University education.
2. Objective:
The Department is implementing various Extension and Continuing
Education programmes, schemes and projects as the guidelines issued by the UGC.
3. Self - Employment Certificate Courses for Unemployed Youth:
As advised by the UGC, the Department has been organising the shortterm self-.employment certificate Courses for the benefit of educated unemployed youth
since 1992.
251 batches of the self-employment courses were organised and 5179
students were benefited from 1992 to 31.10.2015
Printed guide books on self-employment, skills were provided to the
trainees, field visits were arranged for practical experience. Those who completed the
training successfully were given university course certificate.
