ADMINISTRATION
WE HAVE MANY AMAZING VOLUNTEERS who help
with the Administrative duties of running and maintaining
the Epiphany parish. There are too many to name
individually, yet we are so grateful for those that give so
generously of their time and talent to the following:
·
Administration/Finance Committee
·
Audit Committee
·
Collection Counters
·
Facility Management and Planning
·
Garden and Grounds Care
·
General Office Assistance
·
Technology Committee
Without these dedicated and talented people we could
not keep the parish and grounds running efficiently. We
literally could not do it without them!
Thank you also to all who share their treasure so
generously to support Epiphany. As we know, it takes a
lot of treasure to support the wonderful ministries, facilities,
and grounds that make Epiphany special. Thank you again
for honoring your Stewardship and Capital Campaign pledges.
Wishing all a blessed holiday season!

COMMUNITY CARE
A HUGE THANK YOU to the 30+
volunteers that helped deliver over
100 Poinsettias, to our sick,
homebound and bereaved members
of our community. Want to join the next
delivery team in the Spring? Call
coordinator Sandy Waitz 244-0254 to
be added to the list.
EVER WONDERED HOW we are notified of deaths
of family members? Parishioners call the office and
notify us. We will then put your loved one on the
petition list to be read at the weekend Liturgies. We
also offer parishioners who have lost immediate family
members flowers at either Easter or Christmas. Your
relative will also be remembered at our Memorial
Day Liturgy in November. So please call and let us
know how we can help with your needs.
AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR people are on the move.
Help us keep in touch with our sick and homebound
parishioners. Please notify the Parish Nurse, Julie Stuart,
if your family member has moved into a Rehabilitation
center or Nursing Home. We would be happy to visit,
furnish bulletins or bring Eucharist. Call Julie at the
office 245-9733 x 22 and leave a detailed message.
DID YOU KNOW THAT WE HAVE VOLUNTEERS
standing by willing to drive
parishioners to Mass or doctor
appointments? If you or a family
member need this valuable
ministry, please call our Care of
the Sick Minister, Sheila Reiss at
243-1587 to schedule a ride.

the Lord. Let it be done to me as you

WORSHIP
THE 4TH SUNDAY OF ADVENT. Today’s scriptures reveal a God who makes a home with us, One
who takes on our very humanity to love us more completely. Mary is an example of faithful discipleship,
trusting God despite her doubts, and doing what must be done to make God's will a present reality. Like
Mary, it’s up to us to prepare the way -- for God to make a home in our hearts and lives. How is the presence
of Christ becoming real in you? How can we, the body of Christ, become light and life for the world?
Hanging in the center behind the altar in our Advent setting is a lovely wall hanging of Mary, the mother
of God, pregnant with the Christ. This is one of three wall hangings of the Blessed Mother created by
Epiphany founding pastor, Fr. Richard Fowler, for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany. Epiphany’s Art and
Environment teams have done their best to keep them as originally created, which is quite a challenge,
as the fabrics used (especially the burlap) have been disintegrating over time. On either side of the pregnant Mary are four of the seven “O Antiphons”. These are traditionally prayed the last week of Advent,
taking their name from each opening chant that begins with “O” and a title for the Christ. Hanging (from
left to right) are “O Wisdom”, “O Root of Jesse”, “O Key of David” and “O Rising Sun/Dayspring.” Originally created by
community artist Lee Graham with Mary Lee Fisher and Martha Groene some 40 years ago for one of
the first Advents in the Worship Center, they also have been refurbished by our Art & Environment team. We
give thanks for the gifts of all these artists that lift our hearts and minds to the mysteries we celebrate!

COMMUNITY SPIRIT
NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY for all of Epiphany's

from 7 to 1am. Let's Celebrate at Epiphany's Community
Center; Please bring Hors d'oeuvres, desserts, board games
and drinks to share! Call Becky Brown at 235-2428.
WITH A GRATEFUL HEART for the generosity
especially of time that our volunteers gave to transform
Epiphany House into a beautiful environment for the
Christmas Season. You will notice outside decorations
too by the front circle of Epiphany House.
COMMUNITY SPIRIT NEEDS VOLUNDEERS
who are interested in being certified for our new commercial
kitchen. All of our events require the availability of the kitchen
and the need to have at least one certified parishioner
available in the kitchen for the entire event. Please call
or email Sister Mary if you are able to help us in this
way. We are especially in need of someone after the
11:30 liturgies during the clean up of coffee cups.
WEAR RED AND BRING FOOD FOR THE
HUNGRY! WHEN? OUR FEAST DAY! AT
EPIPHANY, JAN. 3 AND 4, 2015 In many ways, we
are celebrating our Feast Day this year in “outrageous
ways”. Why? We have a beautiful new space, called
the Connector. We have a enlarged Worship Center
and a beautiful new baptismal font that speaks to why
we do what we do. It is our baptismal call that calls
us to build community and be for the world the Body
of Christ. So...let’s really feed the poor this Epiphany.
If EVERYONE brought food, our food basket would be
OVERFLOWING! For the past few years some
parishioners have worn red on our Feast Day but what
would the congregation look like if EVERYONE wore
red? Finally, let’s give time to one another after our
liturgies as we share food. Talk with someone to
whom you have never spoken. Talk with the
volunteers and thank them for their generosity in
helping to provide warm, welcoming receptions. Invite
someone “different” to join you at the table.

them about their relatives dead and alive and their

the way they came to the place you now call home.
