RULES OF THE GAME
1. Claim this card as your official playing card and visit different
locations between Memorial Day and Labor Day this summer.
2. Visit as many of the attractions listed on the playing card as you can.
See the back --->> for complete descriptions.
3. Get one validation for each person’s card, per visit, per location.
At the manned locations, ask the attendant to sticker validate your
card. At any of the unmanned locations, you will find
an icon to draw in the right square.
4. Collect validations throughout the summer
to qualify for the top three prizes.
One prize per family or household.

5. Drop your card off by Sept. 11, 2015 at
the Marion Area Convention & Visitors Bureau,

6. Drawing of winning card will be from all qualifying cards, and the
decision of the judges is final.

(M) Harding Home, 380 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion,
740-387-9630. Visit the home of the 29th President
Warren G. Harding and his wife Florence. Stand on
the porch where the famous 1920 campaign
speeches took place. Receive $1 off tours of the
Home with this card. $5 adults, $2 students. No
other discounts apply. Hours are subject to change
so please call ahead. May 2-Nov. 1, Wednesday
through Sunday, 12-5 p.m. Last tour begins at 4
p.m. You will get your validation sticker after the tour
from your tour guide.
(U) Houghton Sulky Company,185 N. State
Street, Marion. Take a moment to take in part of
one of Marion’s oldest industry’s represented by
this building. This is where horse-drawn training
sulkies and road vehicles were manufactured.
Most of the work was done by hand just as it was
when the company was first founded. Your validation icon and information can be found in the
green box on the site.

and Wyandot
Popcorn Museum, 169 E.
Church Street, 740-387-HALL(4255). Visitors will
enjoy the Wyandot Popcorn Museum’s collection
of restored antique popcorn machines. Inside the
Marion County Historical Society’s museum of a
1910 Federal Post Office renovated for use as a
museum. With its imposing front steps, pillars and
red tile roof, it has become a landmark for visitors
to Marion. Admission $5 for adults, $4 for seniors
and $1.50 children, or free to Marion County
Historical Society members. Get your validation
sticker from the attendant.
(U) Harding Memorial at the corner of Delaware
and Vernon Heights Blvd., Marion, where the
President and his wife have been laid to rest.

(M) Edward Huber Machinery Museum on the
Marion County Fairgrounds, 740-387-9233. Open
Saturday 1-4 or by appointment. See farm tractors,
first hay rake, threshers, steam engine, road
rollers, maintainers, grader, steam shovel.
Meeting/luncheon room. Admission is a free-will
donation. Handicapped Accessible. You will get
your validation sticker after a tour from the attendant.
(M) Marion Palace Theatre, 276 W. Center St.,
Marion, Box Office hours Mon., Tues., Thu., Fri. 9
a.m.-5 p.m. This 1928 fully operational theatre is a
historic treasure in which to experience the arts.
Each year, the Palace presents a wide variety of
live performances and films with widespread
appeal and “something for
everyone.” For more information and a calendar of

(M) Linn Schoolhouse, 2473 Marion Bucyrus
Road, Marion. 387-4255. Admission $3. Open
from 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on the first
and third weekends of the month, May through
October or by appointment by calling 3874255. The 1897 Linn School was restored by
Oliver and Merle Hamilton before its donation to MCHS. It is listed on the National
Register of Historic Places. You will get
your validation sticker after the tour from
your attendant.
(U) Veterans Memorial Park at the corner of
Delaware and Vernon Heights Blvd. Walk
through a tribute to each of the U.S. conflicts,
including the Global War on Terrorism. You
will find your validation icon in the green
box.
(M) Buckeye Telephone Museum,
581 Bellefontaine Avenue, Marion,
Thurs./Fri., June 25/26 from 4-8 p.m.,
Sat., June 27, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Or by
appointment 419-947-8676. A display of
telephones and equipment dating back to the
late 1800s. Old telephone directories from
Marion and various towns back to the early 1900s.
Admission is $2.00. You will get your validation
sticker after your tour from the attendant.
(U) Terradise Nature Preserve, MarionWilliamsport Rd., Caledonia, 740-223-4161. Open
Dawn to Dusk. The Marion County Parks District
owns this beautiful 18-acre nature preserve listed
as an Ohio Natural Landmark. Nature trails and
bird watching. You will find your validation icon in
the green box.
(M) Stengel-True Home, 504 S. State St., Marion,
740-387-6140. Located in a brick Civil War era
home, this fascinating museum offers many primitive artifacts and weapons, along with a variety of
fine collectibles. Open daily by appointment. You
will get your validation sticker from the attendant.
(M) Marion Area Convention and Visitors

need to enjoy a trip to many other attractions and
counties in Ohio. Get your validation sticker from
the attendant in the Welcome Center.

winery. Come out for a tour and tasting of some
of Ohio’s finest wines. Tasting fee applies. Annual

(U) Vintage Filling Station
& Pump at the corner of
Rt. 98 and Newman’s
Cardington Rd, Marion. You’ll
feel like you stepped back in time
as you stop by to get a closer look at
the filling station and gas pumps from another time
era. You will find your validation icon in the green
box at this location. Please pull off safely into the
driveway for your visit.

Fairground St., Marion, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Mon.-Fri.,
382-2558. Get your validation sticker from attendant in the Fair office. If visiting during fairtime,
admission charges apply. Fun for the entire family!
Livestock shows, great rides, arts and crafts and
entertainment. The Marion County Fair runs from
June 29-July 4, 2015. While there take a moment
to admire the Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
(M) Marion Union Station 532 West Center St.,
Marion, 740-383-3768. Open Tuesday and
Thursday,10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. or by appointment other days. View old railroad articles. Old
pictures and maps. The AC tower has been
restored and you can also see the newly restored
original stained glass skylight. Admission is $1.00.

and enjoy a Sunday afternoon at the YMCA with your

(U) Marion’s Downtown Mural rightly named
“Marion the Heart of it All” is in the heart of downtown and has architectural depth while depicting
Marion’s past, present and future. In the Busby
Park at the corner of Center and Prospect Streets,
it is open Dawn to Dusk. You will get your validation icon from the green box.
(U) “By Marion About Marion”
The downtown mural on the Merrilll Lynch building
at 206 S. Prospect St. was created by local artists
age 14 to 80 and designed by Dorian Traynham.
It depicts Marion’s history from Jacob’s Well to the
present. You will get your validation icon from the
green box.

Marion-Marysville Rd., Marion. Come check out
the Cobra Helicopter on display in front of a grand
hand-painted, war-tribute mural entitled War
Series. There is also a 2-acre poppy field out back.

(M) The Lincoln Park Family Aquatic Center, 879

center features zero-entry wading, a swimming
pool, dump bucket fun, dual racing tubes, a wide
family slide and a lazy river. A great summer full of
fun at Marion’s newest attraction right here in your
own backyard.

the local newspaper is linked historically to Warren
G. Harding, an owner and managing editor.
Nowadays you can also view the paper online at
