Ultrasound has become a crucially important diagnostic imaging
modality in Equine Orthopedics and a growing number of equine
orthopedic specialists have extended the use of Ultrasound
creatively to assist with injection techniques and to facilitate
minimally invasive surgery. This course has been developed for
equine practitioners to enhance their knowledge and practical skills
of performing ultrasound-guided orthopedic injections and
ultrasound-assisted surgical techniques. Between both afternoons,
7 hours of practical sessions will provide the opportunity to train in
the different injection techniques on horses and equine specimens
in true small-groups (2 – 4 vets per ultrasound machine).
Evaluating horses for poor performance can be a daunting task
because different conditions may present with similar clinical signs,
leaving vets wondering where to start the investigation. This 2-day
practical course covers the most common causes of poor performance
such as cardiac problems, upper respiratory obstructions, systemic
diseases, gastric ulcers and muscle conditions through lectures and
practical small-group sessions. The topic of convalescence from
musculoskeletal conditions is approached through lectures on how to
devise tailor-made rehabilitation programs and physiotherapy of the
horse with upper front- and hindlimb problems and back/sacroiliac
conditions. The use of pulse, lactate and GPS tracking as training and
rehabilitation tools will furthermore be discussed. The 7 hours of
practical sessions will allow delegates to further their practical skills on
live horses and cadaver specimens in small groups (3-5 delegates per
ultrasound machine).

Developed for equine veterinarians who have experience with lameness
investigations, this practical course provides a critical overview of possible
causes of hindlimb lameness, diagnostic anesthetic strategies and how
to interpret nerve and joint block results, via a regio-anatomic approach.
Discussions on the upper hindlimb as a cause of lameness (hip joint,
pelvic and sacroiliac problems) and on systemic and intra-articular joint
therapies will round the course off. The 7 hours of practical and case-based
sessions will give delegates plenty of opportunity to further their practical
skills on live horses and limb specimens in small groups (2 – 4 people per
ultrasound machine).
Conditions affecting the back, pelvis and sacroiliac region are
common in the horse and can cause pain, poor performance and
lameness. This 2-day highly practical course is suitable for
veterinarians from mixed and equine practice who are keen to
update their knowledge and practical skills on the pathophysiology,
clinical presentation, diagnosis and up-to-date therapy of back,
pelvic and sacroiliac problems. The 7 hours of practical sessions in
small groups (2-4 vets per ultrasound machine) on live horses will
maximize the learning experience by covering the Examination
technique of the back & pelvis; Ultrasound of the back, pelvis & hip;
Saddle fit assessment and sacroiliac injection techniques on pelvic

Practical Cardiology for Equine Practitioners
This course was designed to provide both the required knowledge and practical skills for equine
practitioners to become confident in diagnosing cardiac conditions and understanding their
consequences for the horse and rider. Lectures on physical exam, auscultation, murmurs,
arrhythmias, ECG analysis and echocardiography will provide
