Greetings!
We have had such a busy week with events and successes
that I don't know what to mention first. The Mingle
Thursday night at the Sandpearl Resort was the most
elegant and enjoyable affair. Yet again, we had another
record-breaking Mingle, with over 85 in attendance. From
the most welcoming beginning as you entered the resort and
the introduction to Collections, their amazing retail shop, all
were given Tommy Bahamas gift bags and a signature drink
which was black vodka splashed over orange juice with black
liquorice swizzle stick. Then all were invited to the Spa and
treated to foot massages, for that true o-la-la moment.
Everyone then gathered on the lawn for lavish tasty treats
and a beautiful sunset. We are blessed to have this resort on
our island and thank the Sandpearl Resort for such an
exception evening.
The Chalk Walk Art Festival all weekend long was most
successful with thousands of people attending and enjoying
the graceful and talented art with chalk. This event will most
certainly become an Annual Event for our Chamber. If you
did not have a chance to come by and see the amazing works
of art along Beach Walk, please come out and see them
before Mother Nature erases them for good.

The Ribbon Cutting for Hogan's Beach Shop was ceremonial
and emotional. Hundreds of fans were there to welcome Hulk
Hogan but the Hulk himself drew tears to us has he, along
with Steve Chamberland and his cause 50 Legs, gifted a
young 7 year girl with a new prosthetic leg.
Now this week, we pray for the safety of all those who have
been effected by the Super Storm Sandy. My wish is for
everyone to have a safe and Happy Halloween.

Marilee McCrorey is the
newest addition to the VC staff.
Originally from St. Louis, MO,
she also lived in Houston before
moving to the Clearwater area
in 1995, where she has lived
ever since.
Back in St. Louis, she taught
art at the elementary level. She
was also art coordinator for
McDonald Douglass, overseeing
such projects as artwork for the
space shuttle and other gov't
projects. And that was at a time
when women rarely had those
kinds of opportunities! When
she and her husband came to
this area, they ran a tool and die
business in St. Pete.
Marilee loves working at the
VC because she's a real beach
gal. She loves living and
working on the beach, watching
our stunning sunsets, and
swimming in the Gulf. She
resides in Belleair Beach with
her adult daughter. She still uses
her art skills to make cards and
enjoys working with animals.

The Land Rover TriRock
Clearwater Triathlon will take
place on
Sunday,November 11 at 7:00 am.
Triathletes will complete a swim at Pier 60, then
transition to a bike course tour around the City of
Clearwater and over the Belleair Beach Causeway.
They will then finish with a run across the
Clearwater Memorial Causeway bike pathway.

I got approval through the Salvation Army for my
"Giving back to Clearwater" program. I will donate on
each Budget Blind's customer's behalf a turkey now
through Dec 14th. Before Nov 16th, turkeys will be
distributed for Thanksgiving; after Nov 16 thru Dec 14,
they will be distributed for Christmas. Furthermore, I
will use my store front as a collection center of
nonperishable food items in an effort to combat "food
insecurity".
If you would like to help in this effort, we can really
make a difference in Clearwater!
