Cheers to the City of Clearwater on its Centennial! The
celebration has been a blast! And hats off to all of those
with the city and all the departments and civic
organizations and local feet on the street for all the
logistical arrangements. It all came together‐‐and the sheer
joy and excitement of the crowd and participants was
palpable!
As most of us, I love a parade. And this one was
outstanding! Over 100 groups participated with floats,
mascots, walkers, bands, balloons and beads‐‐Oh Wow! I
wasn't aware of the number and variety of groups in this
fine city. And of course, our Chamber crew rode on the
Jolley Trolley, wishing the City a very Happy Birthday and
throwing beads. The Rays threw shirts out to the crowd and
others threw candy and the weather held while we all
grouped and trouped down Drew Street to Coachman Park.
And then there were the fireworks. That was no ordinary
display! A+ to those who put that show together! What
unique designs and displays! Gorgeous colors, shapes and
combinations! I had been sitting but just naturally stood
and cheered them on. What a show!
Here's to the next 100 for Clearwater! Long may she flourish!
