From the Principal
4th August, 2016
I would like to begin the Yabber with a special thank you to all the parents and extended York Public School
community. Your support and encouragement enables us and your children to continually strive for
excellence.
This support was highly evident on Wednesday as many parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles flocked
to the school to observe the learning practices in our classrooms for Open Day. The positive feedback
from parents and the smiles on the children’s faces as they showcased their work was priceless. I would
like to thank all the teachers and the students for showcasing our school so well.
Over the last two weeks we have had a couple of significant sporting achievements from students here at
York.
 Congratulations to Sydney Robin (6E) who represented Sydney West in netball at Albury last week.
After three long days of netball Sydney was selected in the NSW PSSA State Netball Team.
Sydney will now go off and represent NSW in Melbourne later this term. Congratulations Sydney!
 Congratulations to our under 10’s rugby league team who won the NSW All Schools Carnival
on Monday 1st August. The pride and determination you showed throughout the competition was
exceptional.
As you are all aware, this term will see changes in the operation of the school management system. Mrs
Byrne and Mrs Berry are busy training for the new system which will take effect later this term. We
appreciate all your assistance as we transition this new system. To ensure a smooth transition, there will
be changes to the way we accept parent / carer payments.
1. EFTPOS payments: We will not be able to accept EFTPOS payments between 29 August and 5
September 2016. Please ensure that you have made any outstanding EFTPOS payments before
29 August, 2016. From 6 September 2016, EFTPOS payments will be accepted as before.
2. Cash and cheque payments: Between 31 August 2016 and 5 September 2016, we will also not
be able to accept payments by cash or cheque as we prepare to close our current bank account
and transition to the new one. Please ensure that you have made any outstanding cash or cheque
payments before 29 August 2016. From 6 September 2016, cash and cheque payments will be
accepted as before.
3. Online payments: Between 27 August 2016 and 4 September 2016, we will also not be able to
accept online payments as we prepare to close our current bank account and transition to the new
one. Please ensure that you have made any outstanding online payments before 27 August 2016.
From 5 September 2016, online payments will be accepted as before.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we transition to our new finance system. If you have
any questions, please contact the school office on 47316577.

On Monday 1st August our under 10’s rugby league
team represented the Penrith area in the NSW All
Schools Carnival.
The team displayed great
sportsmanship, determination and skill throughout the
day. They progressed to the finals and defeated Curl
Curl North 18-12. Congratulations to all the boys for
your outstanding performance.
As part of the $3.6 billion Western Sydney
Infrastructure Plan, the Australian and New South
Wales governments are planning to upgrade The
Northern Road between The Old Northern Road, Oran
Park and Jamison Road, South Penrith. The upgrade
will improve safety, increase road capacity and reduce
congestion and travel times in the future.
The team comprised of: Jayden Burns, Cameron Hall,
Corey Partridge, Izayah Inia, Cooper Henderson,
Cooper Hale, Hunter Szymkow, Mathew Clifton,
Jackson Kliendienst, Bailey Marteene, Harrison Rich,

Edgar was also awarded the player of the match.
Roads and Maritime has developed a preliminary
design and access strategy for The Northern Road
Upgrade between Eaton Road and Littlefields Road,
Luddenham and, in response to community feedback,
has developed alternate access arrangements for
Littlefields Road and Gates Road, Luddenham. We are
seeking feedback from the community on these
proposals until Wednesday 17 August 2016.
A special thanks to John Burns who coaches the boys
and to Lauren Partridge for all your assistance as
trainer.
Mrs Barglik
A community update newsletter and video have been
prepared to explain the upgrade in more detail and are
available
from
