A pepper belly is a yummy treat that consists of one bag of fritos with a scoop of chili and cheese. Please send $2 in cash if your child would like to buy one for lunch. Registration packets were sent home last Tuesday with your oldest child enrolling for the next school year. You can save $25 per child if you enroll your child on March 4th or March 5th. This is a great time to freshen up your child’s uniform wardrobe of any items that need to be replaced (i.e. any shirts with logos that are fading or worn bottoms, or a new jacket). Embroidered logos are now available as well! If you are unable to attend, order forms are available in the foyer just outside the school office. Each class will have a designated jar and the class with the most pennies will win an ALL out, all you can eat banana split ice cream party! Pennies will be counted on a weekly basis and a chart will be kept so you can see who is in the lead. Box Tops Please turn in ALL Box Tops and Box Top Bonus Certificates to teachers, or the office, by this Wednesday, Feb. 27th. This is the last collection we can have turned in to go toward the final check from BoxTops this Spring. We are about 1,800 BoxTops ($180) away from our 10,000 BoxTops ($1,000) goal for the school year, so every little clipped BoxTop counts! Thank you students, families, teachers, & staff for your continued support! Spring Pictures Our Spring picture day is Thursday, March 14th. This is a FREE dress day however, we remind our children to dress in modest clothing that would be pleasing to God. Please do not send any money. We cannot wait to see them! ☺ We have planted our clover plants and are patiently waiting for them to grow! ☺ Letter Number Ff, Jj, Rr 16, 17, 18 This month has been all about Community Workers…ask your child at home about Community Workers and what they do! ☺ Please review the sight word chart nightly and Bible verse two times a night. Be sure to send your child with their backpack daily. ☺ This is a wonderful time of growth in Kindergarten as we are growing into first graders. Our teeth are growing right out of our mouths, and our bodies and minds are growing too! ☺ 1st Grade 2nd Grade 3rd Grade First grade is doing a great job learning their songs for the Spring Play. The performance is on April 19th at 7pm. This week’s clean desk award goes to Elliot Wardell. Congratulations! ☺ Congratulations to Jeremiah Wilson as he earned this week’s clean desk award. ☺ Keep working on Science Fair Projects as they are due on March 25th. Science Projects are voluntary; if you would like for your child to participate their project would be due on Monday, March 25th. An information packet was sent home a few weeks ago. Second grade “Shining Stars did a super job learning multiplication. Mrs. Berg is so proud of you! This week we are learning how to have mercy like Christ. Ask your child to share what they are learning. ☺ All students are encouraged to work on their Science project…remember it is extra credit. It is time to start thinking about our Walk-A-Thon in April…our class will be wearing red t-shirts. 4th Grade 5th Grade 6th Grade Fourth grade continues to grow in their academics! Students have learned about famous African Americans over the month of February. In addition, students are now writing AWESOME four paragraph essays. ☺ Way to go fourth grade! Progress reports will go home with your child this Friday, March 1st. The sixth grade students are learning the third and fourth stanza of “The Charge of the Light Brigade” and will be tested on Tuesday, February 26th. The book report rough draft is due on Friday, March 15th. Keep working on your Science Projects…March 25th will approach us fast. The fifth grade class would like to take a field trip to Medieval Times on March 28th and the cost is $30 per person. If you would like to be a volunteer driver, please see Mr. Bryant. Opportunities like this are so fun! ☺ Jr. High 7th grade –“ Jesus and The Tabernacle” papers are due on Wednesday, February 27th. Students should begin building their Tabernacle which is due on Thursday, March 14th. Students, please be sure you continue to work diligently on your Science Fair projects as they are due on Monday, March 25th. ☺ Students of the Month In The News at VCA The 8th grade class is doing a fundraiser “Penny Wars” so we can raise funds for our graduation. 8th grade book reports are due this Friday, March 1st. Jr. High will have an Easter brunch on Friday, March 29th. There is a sign up sheet posted in the classroom.
