Jump Rope for Heart
Standish and Sterling Elementary both participated in
Jump Rope for Heart this year. Together we raised
$1,750.00 to help with the cost of children who need
treatment and cannot afford it. During class for the
week we tried new ways to jump rope, did jump rope
challenges, and had a lot of fun. We also learned about
the heart, how it works and how exercise makes a heart
strong. Awesome job students! We look forward to helping the American Heart Association again next year!

SSC vs. W-P Alumni Legends football
game rematch set for August 10
Are you ready for Round 2?
The rematch of the StandishSterling vs. Whittemore-Prescott
Alumni Legends football game is
scheduled for Saturday, August 10.
W-P’s alumni won the first game,
and bragging rights, last year on a
cold and rainy October night at The
Cardinals’ home field.
This year the rematch will be
hosted by Standish-Sterling alumni
under the lights on the Panther’s
home field. Kick off is at 8:00 pm.
Participation is open to all alumni
of both schools who are at least one
year out of high school (no current
grads). Roster size is limited, so it
will be first come, first served.
The cost of participation is $100
per player and includes the use
of school issued equipment and
uniforms for the games. Players
will also receive a game DVD and
team picture.

ATTN: FALL ATHLETES
Athletic ‘pay-to-particpate’
fees adopted for high school
and middle school students
You MUST have a
current PHYSICAL EXAM form
on file with the
athletic office before
you can practice!!!
Starting with the fall sports season Standish-Sterling
high school and middle schools students will now pay a
fee to participate in most athletic programs.
The fees, adopted by the Board of Education in June,
are as follows:
High School -- $50 per sports season per athlete, $100
school year maximum per athlete, $150 school year per
family maximum.
Middle School -- $25 per sports season per athlete,
$25 school year maximum per athlete, $50 school year
maximum per family.
The following High School and Middle School sports are
subject to these fees:
X High School sports grades 9-12 include: Boys
Basketball, Girls Basketball, Football, Baseball, Softball,
Boys Track, Girls Track, Boys and Girls Cross Country,
Golf, Volleyball, Wrestling, Cheerleading, Boys Soccer,
Girls Soccer, Boys Swimming and Girls Swimming, and
Pom/Dance (since the Pom/Dance season spans fall and
winter, participants would pay the $50 fee one time for
that sport).
X Middle School sports include: 7th and 8th grade Boys
Basketball, 7th and 8th grade Girls Basketball, and 7th
and 8th grade Football.
Athletic physical exam clinic
scheduled for August 1
$15 physcial fee counts towards new $50 athletic fee
Athletic physical exams are being offered to Standish-Sterling
students at the Pinconning office of Dr. Jeffrey Potts on Thursday,
August 1 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at a cost of $15.
All of the fees for physical exams done at that time are being
donated back to Standish-Sterling Schools by Dr. Potts. His office
is located at 4293 N. Huron Road (M-13), Pinconning.
Standish-Sterling students who have their physicals done at this
August 1 clinic will have the $15 fee count toward their first $50
school athletic participation fee.
All high school and middle school students must have a current
physical exam form on file with the athletic office before they can
participate in any sport during the upcoming school year. Physcial
exams completed on or after April 15, 2013, are good for the entire
2013-14 school year.
