SHOWCASE: Party
time
T
ailgate parties have become
popular in the United States
as social gatherings that
take place in stadium parking lots before sporting
events and rock concerts.
And guess what? No actual
tailgate is necessary.
In fact, tailgating is so ubiquitous
in the world of sports, concerts and
other events that, in 2010, Tailgaters
Only Publications began the Official
Census of the Tailgate Nation to provide a look into the phenomenon of
the tailgating culture and lifestyle.
According to a study by the Tailgating Institute, a typical tailgater is
a college-educated male between
the ages of 35 and 44. He hosts and/
or attends six to 10 tailgate parties
each season and spends over $500
a year on tailgating food.
On its website, the Tailgating
Institute provides some basics for
getting the most out of the event.
Aside from dressing in team colors,
the Institute recommends decorating your tailgate site with team pennants. Also, the earlier the better:
Plan your menu a day or two before
the game and arrive three to four
hours before the game.
So what are you waiting for? Get
your game face on and pitch these
great tailgating products to your
clients. – By Jennifer Vishnevsky
