One of the great ways to see the Whitsundays is on board
an overnight vessel BUT it’s not for everyone. If you’d like to see and experience
the best the Whitsundays has to offer, have more privacy in the evenings and
your own choice of meals and evening activities then our packages are for you,
the landlubber version! Awesome adventures out on the water by day and Airlie
Beach by night.

The islands we take you to are all part of the Whitsunday Islands National Park.
The waters of the Coral Sea surrounding them are part of the Great Barrier Reef
Marine Park, a World Heritage Area. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest reef in
the world stretching some 2,300 kms along the coast of Queensland. It is truly one
of the great wonders of the natural world and is a ‘must-see’ for anyone visiting the
region. And you won’t want to miss Whitehaven Beach, voted Australia’s number
one beach by TripAdvisor, the region’s other spectacular ‘must see’ attraction.
WHO ARE WE?
Awesome Whitsundays is an innovative, modern company,
a part of the Cruise Whitsundays and the larger MTM group who have been
involved in marine tourism operations for over 30 years - previously in New
Zealand and now in the Whitsundays and Fiji.

GETTING TO THE WHITSUNDAYS
AIR The Whitsundays is serviced by two domestic airports, Great Barrier Reef
Airport on Hamilton Island and Whitsunday Coast Airport on the mainland at
Proserpine. Awesome Whitsundays can organize transfers from both airports to
Airlie Beach. Airlines servicing the Whitsundays are: Virgin, Qantas, Jetstar and
Tiger. Look under Destination: Proserpine and/or Hamilton Island.

ROAD The Bruce Highway runs from Brisbane to Cairns. The Airlie Beach turn
off is one kilometre north of Proserpine and is then a 20 km trip into the beach
town. Airlie Beach is under two hours away from Mackay and three hours away
from Townsville.
COACH/BUS There are several daily services, with Greyhound greyhound.com.au
that pass through Airlie Beach and run northbound from Brisbane, Mackay and
southbound from Cairns and Townsville. The Coach Terminal is directly outside
our Maritime Terminal.

nautical miles from shore on the Great Barrier Reef! Our
permanently moored pontoon ‘Reefworld’ is located on
Hardy Reef – one of the most spectacular stretches of
the Great Barrier Reef. By day, all the amazing activities
offered on our Great Barrier Reef Adventures are there to
be enjoyed – diving, snorkelling, swimming with thousands
of fish, massages and scenic helicopter flights to Heart Reef.
But by 3pm, the day guests depart and you along with a
small number of fellow Reefsleep guests get Reefworld all
to yourselves. Watch the sunset over the reef while you
sip a glass of bubbles and then see the reef really come to
life in the darkness of the night. Sleep under the stars in
your comfy swag on the top deck of the pontoon, let the
tranquillity of the ocean lull you to sleep. In the morning,
enjoy more private time with the reef before the day guests

stars, 40 nautical miles from shore, on the Great Barrier Reef! ‘Reefworld’ is located on Hardy Reef

It is the destination for our day visitors and for a lucky few an overnight experience never to be forgotten.
Guests on the Reefsleep experience travel to Reefworld aboard our high speed luxury vessels with the day guests
arriving around 11am. By day all the amazing activities offered on our Great Barrier Reef Adventures – snorkelling, diving,
swimming, massage, heli-scenic flights are available.
Guided snorkelling and diving trips with just small groups will take you to very special spots – giant Maori Wrasse,
spectacular coral formations, a myriad of tropical fish, turtles and reef sharks all there to be seen. If you’re not a keen
swimmer then enjoy the same sights from the comfort of our semi submersible or wander down to the underwater
viewing chamber.
Come 3pm the vessel leaves and there is just you and fellow Reefsleep guests and our crew of course, with this

Cruise through the Whitsunday Islands National Park enroute to the outer Great Barrier Reef, one
of the world’s most stunning natural attractions. Explore the underwater wonderland and be held

We have two pontoons at two different reef sites. You’ll visit one site on the day but either location will give you
a fantastic reef experience. Our pontoons have a choice of areas to relax and a great range of activities. There
is undercover seating and tables, sun decks for topping up your tan, freshwater showers, change rooms and full
access to the air conditioned comfort of the reef vessel. There are numerous ways to explore the reef, from the
underwater viewing chamber, to the semi-submersible submarines, or snorkelling like a fish beneath the sea!
The pontoons are adjacent to coral walls, the length of which you can explore. Protected as they are, each reef site
has its own ecosystem with magnificent corals and a diversity of marine life found only in sheltered areas. It provides
a unique world for you to explore. The prolific fish life will surprise and delight you - especially the giant grouper!

Backpacker travellers on presentation of a valid Peterpans,
YHA, ISIC, ITIC, IYTC, ISE, VIP, NOMADS, SUT, Base,
and Travel Bugs Card.
