Proserpine to Airlie Beach
Proserpine to Airlie Beach Weekend
This weekend tour is less about the drive
and more about the destination. There
are so many things to do in and around
Airlie Beach, this tour will give you the
time to truly experience the heart of the
Whitsundays. Visit Cedar Creek Falls, stroll
around the markets, visit the lagoon, trek
the national park and lookout and check out
the surrounding islands via boat or by air.
Proserpine
Begin your drive from Proserpine. Although
it has many modern facilities (including
a hospital, schools, library and sporting
facilities), the town’s Main Street is a
reminder of how life used to be - particularly
the ‘art deco’ period evident in the shop
architecture which has been well preserved.
Old-fashioned courtesies still survive in
Proserpine, particularly at many of the
charming retail outlets and country-style
hotels. There are pleasant picnic grounds at
Pioneer Park near the town entrance, Mill
Street Park and the Cultural Centre.
Conway Beach Road is the
Cedar Creek Falls (20km)
Located approximately 20 kilometres from
Proserpine on Saltwater Creek Road, off

picturesque Cedar Creek Falls. These waterfalls are spectacular in the wet season and offer
a year-round natural swimming pool at the base of the falls. They are set in a natural rock
amphitheatre and the flora and fauna will amaze you. There are also bush walks up and
around the falls.
Airlie Beach Markets
The Airlie Beach Markets are situated on the Airlie foreshore every Saturday morning from
8am-12pm. There is ample parking in the vicinity, or walk down the Esplanade from the
bus stop on Shute Harbour Road. Stalls include fresh fruit and veg, food, sweets and coffee,
clothing, souvenirs, art, fishing supplies, books, plants and massages. Also don’t miss the
cruise ship markets that pop up every time a cruise ship is in port in Airlie Beach.
The Esplanade
Dubbed Airlie’s ‘Eat Street’, you will find a wide range of restaurants, cafes and bars along
the Esplanade in Airlie Beach.
