Who will help pay your way to 4-H camp? What is one activity you can do at camp? Which camp do you want to sign up for? FLOYDADA 4-H MEETING Floydada 4-H will meet on Monday March 7, at 6:00 at Nielson’s Restaurant in Floydada. We will be preparing our own hamburgers. Each person wishing to participate needs to bring $10. ******************************************* GALA SERVERS NEEDED The Floyd County Friends benefit GALA is set for Saturday, March 26th. Each year Floyd County 4-H’ers are asked to assist with serving the meal. We need lots of 4-H’ers to help with this activity and are appreciative of help from parents and leaders. There will be a servers meeting on Wednesday March 23rd, 5:30 PM at the Unity Center. Please call to sign up ASAP! You receive points toward a 4-H jacket, patch or scholarship for helping. ******************************************* COUNTY FASHION SHOW If you are planning on participating at the County Fashion Show, I must hear from you by March 11 in order to secure a place and recruit judges. A county show is set for Tuesday, March 22. FASHION SHOW NARRATIVES and your $10 entry fee are due to the CEO by NOON on Friday, March 18. ******************************************* FASHION STORYBOARD Donna is happy to complete your Storyboard label, but she must have yours no later than Monday, March 14 in order to get them all done, proofed and have your boards ready to be turned in to District. If you have questions, please give us a call. RSVP FOR BEGINNER’S SEWING If you plan to participate on Monday, March 14 in the Beginner’s Sewing class I need to hear from you by Friday, March 11. You will be given a supply list at that time. ******************************************* JUNIOR & INTERMEDIATE DISTRICT PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST If you are interested in entering photographs in the District Contest, you must turn your entries and money in to the CEO by Monday, March 14. ********************************************** FLOYD COUNTY 4-H T-SHIRTS We have 2 adult small t-shirts in our office that may be purchased for $8 each. If you need a 4-H t-shirt give us a call or come by and pick one up. ******************************************* 4-H NEWSLETTER ONLINE If you had rather read the 4-H Newsletter online go to: floyd-co.tamu.edu. 4-H Jacket Achievement Point Sheets are also online for you to print off. ******************************************* MEMORIALS Did you know that memorials for loved ones can be made to the Floyd County 4-H Scholarship fund? Memorials help fund our Gold Star scholarships. ********************************************** 4-H ROUNDUP County, District and State Roundup are just around the corner. If you need help with a presentation or Share-TheFun Act, just let us know. Please turn in your Roundup titles to the CEO by April 1. County Roundup is set for Tuesday, April 19 at the Floyd County Friends Unity Center beginning at 5:30 P.M. District Roundup is set for Saturday, May 7 at Levelland Middle School. State is June 13 - 17 on the Texas A&M Campus. ******************************************* 4-H CAMPS There are several camps available to 4-H’ers during the summer. Floyd County 4-H will pay half your way to any 4-H camp. Junior Leadership Camp ages 9 - 13, May 31 to June 2 Senior Electric Camp, ages 14 - 19, New Mexico, June 27 - July 1 Prime Time I, ages 12 - 13, July 24 - 27, 2011, Texas 4-H Center, Brownwood Prime Time II, ages 9 - 11, July 27 - 30, 2011, Texas 4-H Center, Brownwood Junior Leadership Camp is held on the South Plains College Campus. You participate in sports tournaments, project workshops, theme parties and 4-H dances! Electric Camp is sponsored by EXCELL and is held in the mountains of New Mexico - you learn about electricity, electrical safety, have sports tournaments and make an extension cord. Prime Time is held at the State 4-H Center in Brownwood. Activities include swimming, canoeing, archery, riflery, crafts, sport fishing, climbing, repelling and much more. The Floyd County Parent Leader Association will pay half your way to attend. Take advantage of these great opportunities! ******************************************* RIFLE & ARCHERY PRACTICES Archery & Rifle practices have been set for the month of February. Mondays - Archery - Intermediates & Seniors, 5:15 Mondays - Rifle, Intermediates & Seniors, 6:30 Tuesdays - RIFLE ONLY -Juniors, 5:30, Intermediates & Seniors, 6:30 Thursdays - Archery - Juniors & Clover Kids, 5:15 Thursdays - Rifle - Juniors, 6:30 There will be no shooting practice March 17 & 24! There will be no archery on March 7. If you have any questions call the office, Patty Davenport, Winfield Davenport or Jerry Chappell ******************************************* ENTOMOLOGY PROJECT Amanda Miller has agreed to lead an Entomology Project. A schedule is currently being set for practices. If you are interested in participating, call the office and let us know. When Amanda has worked out a schedule you will be contacted. ******************************************* LEADER LAB COUNSELOR APPLICATION If you are interested in serving as a counselor at the North Region Junior Leadership Lab in Levelland, go online to http://floyd-co.tamu.edu/pubcat.cfm?COUNTY=Floy d&CatID=19 to complete the application. The camp date is May 29 - June 2. Counselors must be 15 - 18 years of age. Cost is $100 and the Parent/Leader Association will pay half of that. ******************************************** DISTRICT COUNCIL OFFICER APPLICATION Applications to run for a District 4-H Council Office are due to the District Office by Monday, May 2nd. Officers include President, First Vice President, Delegate at Large, Secretary/Treasurer and Public Relations chairman. All officers must be at least 16 , but not older than 19 on August 31 of the 4-H year you serve. WHAT IS ROUNDUP? Roundup is an event held on the county and district levels for junior and intermediate aged youth, and senior participants also compete at county and district and have the opportunity to advance on to state for the Texas 4-H Roundup to be held June 13 - 17 on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station. Roundup consists of 39 individual competition contests including Judging teams, Quiz Bowl teams, Public Speaking, Educational Presentations, Share The Fun Acts, Food Show, Fashion Show, Fashion Design and Stage Design. County Roundup is scheduled for April 19.District Roundup is set for May 7, 2011. There are several educational presentation scripts and posters already written. If you are interested in helping your child or working with a group, please let us know. We will be glad to help you any way we can. All educational presentations can have 1 - 5 members. Quiz Bowl teams can have 3 or 4 members. Share the Fun teams can have 1 - 9 members and there are 6 Share The Fun categories: Poetry/Prose Celebrate 4-H Vocal Musical –Instrumental Solo-Band Performance Choreographed Routine Complete this St. Patrick’s Day word scramble for 5 points towards your jacket, patch, t-shirt or senior scholarship.
