hand Michael Palm Toft his Elite League debut with
the Rentruck Aces in 2014.
A Premier League place for the upcoming season
seemed to elude him, but undeterred by this Palm Toft
remained determined to ride in the UK.
The 23 year-old from Odense, Denmark joins the
powerful Aces septet on loan from Scunthorpe and will
fill perhaps the most challenging spot on the team.
Director of Operations Chris Morton said: “Because we
had just over 3 points to play with we knew our
decisions on the final rider would be crucial, and we
didn’t want to rush into a signing without considering all
our options.
'Speedy', as he is known, made a promising start to his
British career with the Scorpions in 2011 as a
replacement for the injured Joe Haines, collecting a
credible 7 points in his first appearance at the Eddie
Wright Raceway.
“Michael is an enthusiastic, experienced rider who has
proved he’s got good racing ability and
great UK experience, and with the
current set up of the league it’s a good
opportunity for him to break into the top
flight.
And the following year, his expert
knowledge of his home track proved
instrumental in the 2012 Play-Off Finals
as Scunthorpe sought to scupper
Somerset's dreams of victory.
“It’s a tough job for him to go straight
into the main body of the team,
especially in his first year of Elite
League racing, but we believe, as he
does, that he is capable of filling the
role.”
He scooped an impressive 12 points
from seven rides to seal a home win on
the night, and the title of 2012 Premier
League Champions for the Scorpions.
A further spell at the EWR in 2013 was
cut short however, as team changes
midway through the year saw the
Scorpions axe the young Dane from
their side.
He added: "We are very grateful to Rob
Godfrey and to Scunthorpe Speedway
for their cooperation in making this
signing possible."

Zagar
anticipates
“Great Season”
MATEJ Zagar, Belle Vue’s No 1, jetted
into Manchester on a flying visit this
weekend to sign his new contract - and
the Slovenian superstar took the chance
to forecast a great season for the
Rentruck Aces.
Zagar, looking to improve his World No 7
rating in the Grand Prix series, is thrilled
at the prospect of teaming up with captain
Craig Cook, Scott Nicholls and Richie
Worrall in a new-look side of real Belle
Vue style racers.
He said: “I am very glad my deal has
been extended for another year. I knew
not only after last season but during it that
I wanted to ride for this club again.
“Hopefully more and more people will
come to support us and I feel the team
will have a much, much bigger chance to
reach the play-offs.
“We have a track with a big home
advantage and we are building a side
who can crucially win every home
meeting. I have never won a gold medal
in England so it would be nice to do that
at Belle Vue.
“I think that with riders like Craig, Scott
and Richie in the team we can have a
really entertaining and winning side
which will put bums on seats at Belle
Vue.”
Zagar explained why he was so eager
to return, adding: “Everybody sticks to
their word at Belle Vue. There are no
empty words. That is so important to
me and it hasn’t always been like that
in my ten years in England.
“That’s why I have great respect for
Chris Morton and the other promoters.
Some times 100 tons of paper means
nothing. For me the worst thing you
can do is to break your word.”
