Network Enhanced UAS Range Operations
Network Enhanced UAS Range Operations Key Features NEURO is the brains of your UAS operations, tracking nearly every aspect of UAS flight ops. NEURO is a next-generation software product created from the ground up to support Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) operations in the National Airspace System (NAS). NEURO provides a browser-based interface for UAS aircrew, ground-based safety observers, flight test engineers, managers, airfield operators, and other external stakeholders without the need for any installed software or browser plugins. NEURO web-based display- no special plugins required UAS, Radar, ADS-B track picture Factor Traffic Cuing for Safety Observers and Aircrew Long term persistent data storage Collaboration hub for all mission stakeholders Advanced data analysis performed on the serverensuring that user displays remain responsive under heavy load No new Human Machine Interface (HMI) requiredseamlessly integrates with your existing Ground Control Station or other mission display Long Term Data Storage Retrieval and Analysis NEURO accepts primary and secondary radar data, ADS-B data and UAS metadata to build an accurate 3D air picture. All data that enters NEURO is maintained and stored by NEURO indefinitely. The NEURO database enables on-the-fly data retrieval. It contains a powerful timeline that allows the user to immediately advance or retrograde the time or jump directly to a desired time for both forward and reverse playback at normal or other speeds. The NEURO database also enables real-time event alerting and large scale historical data analysis. For example, analyze the utilization of your operating airspace over time by altitude segment, aircraft squawk (e.g. 1200 vs. assigned), proximity to your UAVs, etc. Real-Time Metadata Creation NEURO creates new amplifying information for data it is receiving in real-time, i.e. as data is being received. One example is track vertical speed, NEURO analyzes reported track altitude over time to calculate vertical speed for the track. This provides a vertical speed value for air tracks served, even when vertical speed is not available in the track’s source data. © 2012 Google Inc. All rights reserved. NEURO’s common operating picture allows for instantaneous sharing of flight paths, targets, shapes and other overlays with other operators and mission stakeholders. NEURO provides range operators the ability to monitor range airspace, as well as track airspace utilization and traffic density. NEURO integrates surveillance sensors and UAS metadata feeds to provide a single, accurate, common operating picture to all players. Range managers can track the location of designated ground observers operating NEURO via their mobile device to ensure FAA COA compliance. Small UAS and other R/C Aircraft Safety Observer Support Using a simple mobile device, small UAS operators, including hobbyists and educational operators operating in accordance with Advisory Circular AC 91-57, can cooperate with local airfields by marking their location and operating area for display on the NEURO common operating picture. Information such as operator name and contact info can be passed to all affected flight operations in real-time without the use of a VHF radio. NEURO constantly monitors UAS aircraft tracks as well as radar and ADS-B tracks. NEURO alerts UAS aircrew and other safety observers of pending factor traffic to facilitate rapid visual acquisition and safe self-separation by the UAS operators. Third-Party Developers NEURO was built from the ground up to be open and accessible to third party developers. All system boundaries consist of a well-defined, published interface using standard data formats such as JSON, XML, and KML and standard communication protocols such as HTTP/REST Local Area Airfield Coordination Most UAS Certificates of Authorization mandate alerting local airfields of UAS activity. NEURO’s webbased architecture allows local and regional airfield personnel to see UAS test range schedules and activity. NEURO can provide this information from planning and scheduling to execution. In the event of a UAS contingency, such as “Lost Link,” NEURO can automatically announce the event to all pertinent regional stakeholders.
