CLUB NEWSLETTER — JANUARY 2016
VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1
Farewell To Our Head Coach Richard
Its was with regret that we said Bon Voyage and a Good Luck to our Head Coach Richard Gheel earlier
this month.
Richard has taken up a new post in New Zealand and we all wish him and his family well in this very
exciting time for them.
Richard became Head Coach in 2011 and the club has gone from strength to strength since.
One of the biggest achievements in his time was at the Ulster Age Groups in 2014 when LCSC finished
top of the medals table.
In his term as Head Coach we has also seen a rise in the number of swimmers qualifying for Ulster and
Irish Squads.
The club hopes to carry on the success of our swimmers and the process of recruiting a New Head
coach has began.
2016 Aquasprint Captains
This years Aquasprint Captains are Noah Poots and Sasha
Quinn. Both swimmers have a lot experience in The Aquasprint
league and will be a great example to all our swimmers taking
part this season.
We are looking forward to an exciting year which begins at home
on 6th March 2016 against Ards. The team selection will follow
in due course.
Congratulations to both Captains!!

LCSC Learn to Swim Program
The LCSC Learn to Swim Programme is based on the Swim Ireland
Child Learn to Swim syllabus and award scheme, and is designed for
children from the age of 5 years.
With the emphasis on building confidence and enjoyment, children
learn the fundamental skills for water safety and for developing a wide
range of aquatic skills alongside the four main swimming strokes.
Each child is placed in an appropriate level according to experience and
ability, and will progress at his or her own rate through the Levels 1 –
6. Children who have completed Level 6 may apply for a trial to join the
Development Squads in the club, which start them on the competitive
pathway (there may be restrictions due to the number of places
available). Not all children wish to proceed to competitive swimming;
the aim of the programme is make swimming fun, develop safety and
competency in the water, and provide the foundation for a lifetime
involvement in aquatics. The diving and water polo programmes
provide an excellent opportunity to challenge and further develop skills.
