Additional Product Instructions & Illustrations Dritz® Home: Iron-On Shirring Tape (item #44501) The parts: Iron-on Adhesive Shirring Cords This side is placed against the fabric. This side faces away from fabric. What is Iron-On Shirring Tape? It is an iron-on tape used to gather the top edge of a curtain panel. It is also great for other craft and home decorating projects where evenly shirred edges are required such as a table skirt or window shade. How do you use Iron-On Shirring Tape? 1. Planning and Preparation: Cut fabric panels 1-1/2 to 2 times desired finished width. Finish top, side and bottom hems of curtain panel. Cut tape about 6” longer than finished panel width. 2. Placing the Tape: Center tape, adhesive side down, on wrong side of panel, near the top edge. Pin to hold tape in place. Pull cords out of tape at edges of the panel. Cut off excess tape; do not cut cords. 3. Fuse Tape: With dry iron on “Wool” setting, press tape for 10 to 15 seconds in an area. Continue along length of tape until it is completely fused. 4. Shirr: At one end, knot cord ends together. Pull cords from opposite end to shirr the tape. Knot cords when panel is gathered to desired width. Adjust gathers evenly. TIP: For tighter pleats, lightly steam a section of tape before pulling cords. Be careful not to steam too much or tape will pull off the fabric.
