Volume 95 · Issue 28· February 9, 2015 Page 2 Rotary Memories 25 Years Ago ………. February 2nd Rotary Meeting Roy Schulz gave the club a very interesting slide program about the new rack storage buildings that Consolidated Papers, Inc. is building adjacent to the existing conversion facility. The buildings will be approximately 93 feet high and will house the roll storage and finished goods storage. The method of handling and storing will be completely automated. The total new expansion, including a new paper machine, will cost 495 million dollars when completed in late 1991. Besides the rack storage and new paper machine, there will also be an expansion at the Kraft Mill. The new paper machine will produce 600 roll tons per day. Mr. Schulz said that Consolidated expects the market to grow strong. He estimated 225 new jobs will be created by this expansion. Mr. Lothrup provided a United Air Lines trip to Hawaii as we enjoyed the comforts of the Mead Hotel Dining Room. We saw all of it in color movies – famous Waikiki Beach, surf riders, Diamond Head, the sugar, coffee and pineapple industries and the ubiquitous lovely leidecked hula girls. Mr. Lothrup noted that each hula tells a story; meanings are conveyed with the hands, not the hips. Hawaii is indeed a balmy climate, rich in cultural heritage and a perfect place for relaxation. Community Chest – Jack Potter, one of the directors of the local Community Chest, gave a brief talk on the annual fund drive. George Mead II is drive chairman. announcements: - 2015 – 2016 Rotary theme will be “Be a Gift to the World” dates to remember: - Thursday, February 12th – Rotary After Hours - 5:00 P.M. @ Jennings & Co.
